Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader offers the players a seemingly open world to explore once Chapter 2 starts where they can warp jump from system to system and live the true life of an explorer. However, one of the main problems with this system is that the power level of the various things you discover seems to be random. If a system is close to Footfall, it doesn’t mean it will actually be close in difficulty. One of these annoying fights that you will find while exploring System Speculo is the one where the Interstellar Sextant keeps running from you with the loot. So, in this guide, we will show you how to beat the Interstellar Sextant before disengaging and what you actually get by doing this in Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader.

How to Beat the Interstellar Sextant Before It Disengages in Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader
The first problem you will face in this battle is that the enemy ships will move before you do. Though the Interstellar Sextant is supposed to disengage in three turns, it actually escapes in two of your turns, since you move after it.
The first thing you need to do in this battle is to load the Autosave file that appeared when you started fighting, since this will somehow move you to be the first in the move order. Without moving first, it is impossible for players with the starting voidship parts to win this battle.
Now, in the first round, move close to the Interstellar Sextant to face it and use the Prow Lance weapon on it. Then, hit it with the Dorsal Macro Cannons. Before ending the turn, also shoot the Cobra-Class Destroyer to the right with the Starboard Macro Battery and deploy the Torpedos facing the left side of the ship, towards the Sextant.
On the second turn, ram the Torpedoes right into the back of the Interstellar Sextant and then follow it yourself by flying right behind the Cobra-Class Destroyer. Use the Lance and the Macro Cannons again on the Sextant and, if the RNG gods are on your side, it should reach less than 50%, making it surrender.
To defeat the Interstellar Sextant and stop it from disengaging in Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader, you just need to lower its Hull Integrity below 100. Once that happens, it will surrender and become a friendly NPC that you can’t damage anymore.
The rest of the fight should be easy now. Fly up to the torpedoes that the enemy shot and destroy the Cobra to your Starboard. Then, get close to the Viper and Laser the other Cobra. After that it will be easy work if you don’t get hit too often by the enemies.
Interstellar Sextant Rewards
Now comes the controversial part. The whole idea of this Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader fight is to stop the Interstellar Sextant to get all the good loot it has. However, the battle seems to be bugged and the rewards are very messy.
Each defeated Cobra Destroyer will give you 80 experience and 16 Scrap, the Viper will give you 140xp and 23 Scrap, and the Interstellar Sextant will give you nothing if it surrenders and 220xp if it escapes, because, for some reason, the game thinks it died.
So, at the end of the battle, if your Rogue Trader defeated everyone and the Sextant surrendered, you get 380 experience. However, if the Sextant escapes, you get 600. When it comes to rewards, you get the same 30% Void Pirate Trophies Cargo and 1k experience no matter what.
Until this is fixed, it seems that the best choice is to let the Interstellar Sextant go and slowly but surely defeat all the Destroyers around it.
