Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader – Best Cassia Build

Warhammer 40k Rogue Trader - Best Cassia Build

In the world of Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, Navigators are supposed to be some of the most overpowered beings in the universe. Unfortunately, the player doesn’t have the chance to play as one but Cassia will be there right from the start of the game, allowing you to see these powers closehand. Not only are Navigators supposed to be powerful, but she also seems to be better than her peers, making her one of the most powerful beings in the world. Generally, it can be hard to make a bad build using Cassia as long as you invest in her Navigator skills, but that is what we are here to show you. In this guide we will help you with a build for Cassia that will put her Navigator powers in the spotlight while also keeping the relevant skills from the various archetypes in Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader.

Best Cassia Navigator Build in Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader

Cassia is incredibly powerful as long as you get Navigator powers and talents. Even if you didn’t know what you were doing, just getting those will usually make her more powerful than half of your companions.

Unfortunately, Cassia starts at level 4, even if you respec her, which means that you will be stuck with the horrible Inspire Courage talent. However, there is a lot of room for improvement:

Officer Archetype Levels

Here is what you should pick for her talents and skills during the first 15 levels to make the best Cassia build in Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader:

  • Level 5 – Willpower, Mastery of Time
  • Level 6 – Seize the Initiative, Willpower
  • Level 7 – Notch of Purpose, Perilous Ways
  • Level 8 – Eye of Oblivion, Awareness
  • Level 9 – Finest Hour! (Upgrade IV)
  • Level 10 – Persuasion, Perception
  • Level 11 – Ebb and Flow, Fellowship
  • Level 12 – Point of Curiosity, Tonicity
  • Level 13 – Blood Augury, Awareness
  • Level 14 – Perception, Mind over Matter
  • Level 15 – Finest Hour! (Upgrade I)

Now, for the Officer Archetype levels we will only get one single Officer talent, and that is Seize the Initiative. We take this because it has amazing synergy with the Mastery of Time talent, which gives you +5 Willpower each time someone gets an extra turn.

This way, you will start the battle with an extra turn, giving you +5 from the start, and you can only use Officer abilities, which means you’ll have to use Bring It Down!, which will give someone an extra turn as well. From the start of the fight, Cassia will get +10 Willpower.

Then, the next most important part will be getting the Point of Curiosity ability, combined with the Perilous Ways talent, which will move a lot of enemies that fail a WP check and damage them based on Cassia’s WP bonus.

To get it, we will also have to get Notch of Purpose, a completely overpowered ability that many underestimate. This ability will make the closest enemy to the point you select walk towards it.

This means that you can literally just select a random spot next to Cassia and the closest enemy will walk towards it, dealing WP bonus damage and another +2 damage per cell walked (which will be a maximum of 8).

Considering you are already boosting your Willpower from all the extra turns she and fellow Officers are dishing out, Cassia will deal damage close to the hundreds in no time.

Grand Strategist Archetype Levels

Though most players would wonder what the best choice would be here, analyzing the situation will give you a clear answer: Grand Strategist is the best level 16 Archetype for this Cassia build in Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader.

There are two reasons for this choice. First of all, the ability to start first in combat every time. This is extremely overpowered for Cassia’s crowd control abilities, since she can place everyone in a nice huddle before the fight even starts.

The second reason is the Take a Hold special ability, which can give all the allies in a special zone an extra turn. If you had all your allies in that combat tactics area, you would gain +25 Willpower just from that.

Here is what you should pick for her talents and skills between levels 16 to 35 for this Cassia build in Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader:

  • Level 17 – Waking Nightmare
  • Level 18 – Strange Vitality
  • Level 20 – Willpower
  • Level 21 – Undam the Sea of Souls, Willpower
  • Level 22 – Reveal the Light
  • Level 23 – Awareness, Pass Unscathed
  • Level 24 – Perception, Unnatural Allure
  • Level 25 – Stable Routes
  • Level 26 – Perception, Awareness
  • Level 27 – Take a Hold (Upgrade IV)
  • Level 28 – Open to the Warp, Fellowship
  • Level 29 – Fellowship, Persuasion
  • Level 30 – Zone of Fear
  • Level 31 – Characteristic Training: Willpower, Characteristic Training: Perception
  • Level 32 – Persuasion, Fellowship
  • Level 33 – Fellowship, Disputed Zone
  • Level 34 – It Will Not Die
  • Level 35 – Take a Hold (Upgrade I)

Generally, the Navigator abilities are overpowered. During these last levels, we will mainly get all the good remaining talents available and be happy that nobody can stop the menace that is Lady Cassia.

Reveal the Light will probably be the best thing we get here, since Cassia can give herself crazy WP buffs, increasing it above the hundreds with ease.

Exemplar Archetype Levels

At this point in the game, this Cassia build should be more than enough to solo most of the enemies in Rogue Trader. This is why we won’t go level by level here and we will just give you some advice on what abilities and talents might still be relevant and powerful for her to get to destroy even more demons.

  • Blood of Martyrs – allies that use heroic acts gain temporary wounds
  • Commanding Voice – larger range for Officer skills
  • Eager for Battle – +2 AP in the first turn
  • Malign Influence – a lot of direct damage based on WP bonus when enemies fail WP checks
  • Steel Resolve – +3 Resolve

  • Immolate the Soul – shoot a light that will damage all in that line of fire and get hit every round with damage based on WP bonus
  • Warp Curse Unleashed – increases damage against an enemy, incredibly powerful if you also have Psykers in the squad
