One of your first tasks as the newly crowned Rogue Trader of your personal ship in Warhammer 40,000 universe is to find a Navigator to get you through the warp. Luckily, the location where you can find a person to help you is really close, on Eurac V. The first person you will meet here is Felek, who is executing a couple of traitors in the main hall. You will then have to decide who you want to help in this scenario, Felek or Theobald, find out who the traitor is, and get a Navigator for your ship in Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader. In this guide, we will show you exactly what happens in both scenarios, to help you choose the best course for your character.

Felek or Theobald – Who is the Traitor in Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader

If you properly explore the whole floor where you need to find the elevator control rod, you will learn a lot of suspicious things about Felek.

When you finally bring power back to the elevator, along with the control rod found next to the complicated laboratory puzzle, you will have the chance to question Felek about the things you found out.

By asking him about all of the things you’ve discovered, it becomes relatively clear, especially by his constant flustered reactions, that Felek is the traitor trying to gain control of “the Child.”

Though the exact reasons why he is doing what he is doing aren’t very clear, it seems to be a combination between a political move and a hatred for Cassia’s powers.

Who to Choose – Felek or Theobald

No matter who you choose to help, Felek, Theobald, or neither, you will still end up recruiting Lady Cassia as your Navigator and companion in Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader, since you can clearly see her on all the cover art for the game.

However, there are a couple of ways you can do this and each one of them will result in different reactions from Cassia when she joins you. Here are the 4 ways your choice between Felek and Theobald can go in Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader:

  • Defeat Felek before taking the elevator (worst loot, + Cassia relationship).
  • Defeat Felek and Theobald (best loot, – Cassia relationship).
  • Defeat Theobald (best loot, – Cassia relationship).
  • Defeat Felek with Cassia and Theobald’s help (almost best loot, + Cassia relationship).

If you choose to fight Felek first, because you don’t trust him, then you will just have a nice conversation with Theobald and leave the station with Cassia. This will result in Theobald dying off-screen and Cassia being relatively happy with how things went down.

However, if you choose to fight Theobald after defeating Felek, Cassia will be relatively angry, because you forcibly took her from her home to serve you. Generally, this seems like the good choice for a Dogmatic playthrough if you want to roleplay.

If you work with Felek and want to bring Cassia back to him from Theobald, you won’t have to fight Felek anymore, since Cassia will destroy him and everyone with him in one shot when you get back to them.

The last choice would be to fight Felek with Theobald and Cassia’s help, which will make everything easy mode. This will result in Theobald dying from his wounds, allowing you to also get his loot without being evil.

So, loot-wise, the worst choice is to fight Felek alone before meeting Cassia and Theobald, though it has the best results for your relationship with Cassia. Either way, you can’t get either Felek or Theobald as your Navigator, so make sure to choose what fits your character.
