Phasmophobia: How to Find the Ghost Room

Phasmophobia How to Find the Ghost Room

One of the several challenges in this award-winning, paranormal investigation game is to find the ghost’s favorite room. In Phasmophobia, you will need to find the ghost room in order to set up your investigative equipment, interact with the ghost, and complete optional objectives. If you’ve been playing for a while now or just getting started, finding the ghost’s favorite room is a struggle especially if it’s a wanderer. But don’t worry, in this guide, we will explain how easy it is to find the ghost room in Phasmophobia.

How to Find the Ghost Room in Phasmophobia

In Phasmophobia, the room where the ghost is consistently present is the “ghost room”. The players’ goal should be finding this location as fast as possible. If you’re trying to find an easy way to find the ghost’s favorite room in Phasmophobia, then you’ve come to the right place!

Make sure you’ve played the game a bit and earned some in-game cash, especially by taking photos of ghost evidence, interactions, and bone, even if you couldn’t identify the correct ghost type. This is because you’ll need to buy important pieces of equipment before starting the mission.

With enough money and the right equipment, you can find the ghost’s room and collect evidence in no time. Read below to find out how the best players are able to locate the ghost’s room quickly in Phasmophobia and how you can too.

Use Your Ears & Eyes

At the start of the game, while you’re bringing in equipment with you from the truck, simultaneously listen for any ghost interactions and noises (doors touched, stuff thrown). If you notice most of the activity from a particular room, that is your ghost room.

In a small room, listen for ghost footsteps. There should be one loud step. That may also indicate the ghost’s spawn point. Place Salt in and around that area so you can verify before it spawns/hunts.

UV Light

If there are frequent fingerprints or footprints on the door or other places inside the room it is most likely the ghost room.

Motion Sensor

Don’t just place it randomly. Instead, place it where there is the highest interaction/sounds and it should start going off frequently. That is an indication of the ghost’s room, and that the ghost could spawn from there.

EMF

You can use the EMF Reader to pinpoint the near-exact location of the ghost in the room in Phasmophobia. The reader won’t always go off, but when it does it is in one part of the room. If the EMF goes off frequently there, it’s the ghost room.

Thermometer

Check all the rooms’ temperatures while the breaker is on. The room with the lowest temperature (below zero Celsius = freezing temperatures) is the ghost room. It may also indicate that the ghost was recently in the room. Low temperatures (5 -7 degrees Celsius) and cold breath doesn’t automatically indicate the ghost’s room but suggest that the ghost was present there long enough.

Spirit Box

Use the Spirit Box to ask the ghost, “Where are you”, and the ghost will reply with either “Close”, “Here”, “Behind”, etc. If it says “Here” or “Behind” it may indicate the ghost’s spawn point and also usually the ghost room.

Sound Sensors

You can use the sound sensors and move them around before using all the above equipment just to get a rough clue about the ghost’s room.

Parabolic Microphone

It can also indicate the ghost room if it’s consistently picking up sounds from there (more useful with larger maps).

Video Camera

Use the video camera to look for ghost orbs. If they are present on the camera feed, it indicates the ghost room.

DOTS Projector

If you spotted the ghost on the DOTS Projector frequently it indicates the ghost room.

Cursed Possessions

Cursed Possessions might be the best way to find the ghost room in Phasmophobia, as they will usually give you a direct answer. However, depending on the difficulty level, you will risk triggering a hunting phase.

  • Use the Haunted Mirror to instantly identify ghost room.
  • Use the Voodoo Doll to trigger ghost interactions and listen for them.
  • Lighting up the Summoning Circle makes the lights in the ghost room turn on. However, it triggers a cursed hunt. But while you’re trying to save your skin after lighting up the summoning circle, the rest of the team (who should be near a probable ghost room) can actually find the room with the lights turned on.
  • Play/place the Music Box within a 5m radius of where you think the ghost is. If the ghost is near you’ll hear it sing loud and clear (indicating a ghost room). If it’s singing from afar means wherever it is at that moment, that was its favorite room. If you are too close to the ghost, it’ll spawn and instantly start walking toward the box. If it walks for 5 seconds or reaches the box, it will start a cursed hunt with a one-second grace time.
