Though Baldur’s Gate 3 entertains players with hard battles and interesting game mechanics, the best part about the game is the choices and the quests. Throughout this game, players will never feel like they are just doing a “fetch quest,” even though it probably is one, if you look at it objectively. This is due to the fact that all of the companions and characters in Baldur’s Gate 3 make every encounter feel real. For example, the request to steal the Githyanki Egg for Lady Esther will anger Lae’zel very much, if you have her in your party. Should You Steal the Githyanki Egg for Lady Esther in BG3? – What Happens If You Give Her the Egg
If you steal the Githyanki Egg (or just convince them to hand it over) and give it to Lady Esther in BG3, then she and most of the Society of Brilliance will be dead in Act 3. Spoilers ahead about what happens if you give Lady Esther the Githyanki Egg:
- If you give Lady Esther the Githyanki Egg, she and Havkelaag, a Dwarf part of the Society, will speed up the growth process of the Egg and make the Githyanki inside an adult, to test out their hypothesis. The Githyanki will end their lives and you will meet him when you reach Act 3.
So, what other choices do you have here? You can just ignore her or take her money in “advance,” but there is another choice that many players will want to try out: giving her an Owlbear Egg instead.
If you know what happens next, then the best choice here, when considering if you should steal the Githyanki Egg or not in BG3 for Lady Esther, is to give her the Owlbear Egg and Persuade or Deceive her, letting her know that the egg isn’t a Githyanki one.
What Happens If You Give Lady Esther the Owlbear Egg Instead of the Githyanki Egg in BG3
If you give Lady Esther the Owlbear Egg instead of the Githyanki Egg in BG3, there will be two possibilities:
- Everyone still dies
- Nothing bad happens
If Lady Esther knows that the egg isn’t a Githyanki Egg, she won’t die because she will make sure that they won’t age the egg. However, if she thinks that the egg is a Githyanki one, they will go through the same process as earlier and die at the hands of a matured Owlbear.
