This article explores the pros and cons of embracing this powerful yet controversial brand that all of the goblins of Act 1 seem to be carrying. As you navigate the intricate web of decisions, we delve into the potential benefits and downsides of aligning yourself with the Absolute, by branding yourself with their icon. Whether you’re tempted by its potential or cautious of its consequences and downsides, our guide sheds light on the complex moral landscape and empowers you to make an informed choice in Baldur’s Gate 3, by knowing if you should brand yourself with the Brand of the Absolute.

Brand of the Absolute Benefits and Downsides in BG3

The Brand of the Absolute is a long-term permanent modifier that you can get in BG3 which will allow you to use special equipment that only the followers of the Absolute can use properly and that will give you new dialogue lines.

Once you get the Brand of the Absolute from True Soul Gut, inside the Shattered Sanctum, in the Goblin Camp, you can now show it to other followers of the Absolute to prove that you are one of them. This will allow you to easily pass a few hostile encounters with the Absolute’s goons.

You will also gain access to the special abilities of the following pieces of equipment:

  • Absolute’s Talisman – Loot from Priestess Gut
  • Absolute’s Warboard – Loot from Priestess Gut
  • Faithbreaker – Loot from Dror Ragzlin in the Shattered Sanctum, inside the Goblin Camp
  • Gloves of Power – Loot from goblin Za’Krug in front of Druid Grove
  • Ring of Absolute Force – Loot from Sergeant Thrinn in Grymforge, Underdark
  • Vision of the Absolute – Combine the Shaft of a Broken Spear and the Head of a Broken Spear

Players can get all of this equipment in Act 1 and none of them are extremely powerful. They will generally be useful during Act 1, but you should get better weapons and armor by Act 2.

Should You Brand Yourself in BG3?

There are no real downsides or disadvantages that you get if you brand yourself in BG3 with the Brand of the Absolute. This is why you should brand yourself with the main character in Baldur’s Gate 3 since you will get access to some new dialogue options.

You also get the chance to brand all of your companions by talking to Warlock Greez in the same room, while controlling the companions. However, that shouldn’t be necessary, since the pieces of equipment you unlock with the Brand of the Absolute aren’t that good long-term.

And that is all you need to know about if you should brand yourself in Baldur’s Gate 3. Check out other interesting BG3 guides and articles:
