A few skulls here, a few hammers there, a bunch of ropes, and one confused player unsure of whether to keep the items or dump them. You may have wondered while playing Baldur’s Gate 3: does rope do anything? Can you use it to get out of sticky situations or is it just another silly item that causes chaos in your inventory? If that’s the case, join us as we discuss the use, or lack thereof, of rope in BG3.
Does Rope Do Anything Useful in Baldur’s Gate 3?
While playing traditional D&D, many folks have experienced amazing adventures with nothing more than their imaginations and items like the humble rope. But those roleplaying elements don’t really translate all that well into PC games.
As such, rope in BG3 does not do anything other than take up space in your inventory. Sure, you can sell it for 1GP, but that’s the extent of rope’s usefulness.
Rope Could Have Been Better in BG3
There is no denying that BG3 is a fantastic game, and it offers amazing roleplaying experiences. But the rope in the game could have been better.
Perhaps it could have been used to climb up and down areas that could otherwise not be reached. Or it could have been utilized to tie up creatures, which would have been fun.
The Rope Trick Spell uses rope to create an entrance to an extradimensional space. This space can keep up to eight Medium or smaller creatures safe for an hour. This would have been fantastic to see in Baldur’s Gate 3.
Maybe modders will add a use for rope, or a future DLC will give this object some use. For now, players are left grunting when all they find in a container or on a body is a piece of rope.
And that is all you need to know about what to use rope for in Baldur’s Gate 3. Check out other interesting BG3 guides and articles:
