Most Baldur’s Gate 3 players like to explore and find the secret items that Larian has hidden in the large, semi-open world of the game. As you loot and look through every nook and cranny, you might pick up items here and there that sound as if they have some special meaning, only to realize that you have no idea how to use them. The Shaft and the Head of a Broken Spear are two items in BG3 that are useless alone, but very powerful together. Players will either have no idea where to find both or will wonder how to actually use them. Well, in this guide we will show you where to find the location of the Broken Spear pieces and how to use them in Baldur’s Gate 3.
Shaft of a Broken Spear and Head of a Broken Spear Locations in BG3
Both the Shaft and the Head of the Broken Spear can be found very close to each other in BG3. You can find the Shaft of the Broken Spear on the body of Edowin, located a bit northeast of the bridge toward the Blighted Village, coming from the Druid Grove.
If you talk to the acolytes that were together with Edowin, you will realize that they faced an Owlbear when they lost him. If you head down toward the river to the west and enter the cave there to defeat the Owlbear and loot it for the Head of the Broken Spear.

How to Use Shaft and Head of a Broken Spear in BG3 – Combine
Once you get both the Shaft and the Head of the Broken Spear in BG3, all you need to do is interact with one of them in your inventory and select to Combine it. Then, in the second slot, select the other piece and press to Combine to get the Vision of the Absolute spear.
Unfortunately, you won’t be able to fully use this spear to its full ability until you get the Brand of the Absolute from the Goblin Camp.
