Auntie Ethel might be one of the creepiest enemies you will possibly face in Baldur’s Gate 3. Not only does she like to act as a kind, harmless old alchemist, but she also likes to torture anyone that actually wants real help with their problems. As you progress through the creepy dungeon that is her lair, you will first pass by some mind-controlled thralls, known as Masks, and then you will have to pass through a scary puzzle full of poison clouds. Well, players can actually clear these poison clouds, named Noxious Fumes, in Baldur’s Gate 3 using their inventory and some quick thinking. Here is exactly how to do it.

How to Get Through the Poison Clouds (Noxious Fumes) in BG3

To disarm and stop the poison cloud traps (Noxious Fumes) in BG3, you just need to place something on the Vent that is spewing the cloud. To actually see the Vent, you will need to pass a DC 15 Perception check by standing relatively close to the cloud.

Once you see the location of the Vent, just throw any item from your inventory over it. If you can’t beat the Perception check, you can always just throw items in random locations inside the poison cloud and hope the trap stops.

If you don’t have a lot of useless loot to throw, you can use everything the Masks were wearing, if you didn’t spare them.

Otherwise, you can go back to the Gnarly Door and pick up the Whispering Masks that are placed on a table next to it. There should be 4, for your whole party to wear. Don’t wear them.

There are exactly 4 poison cloud traps (Noxious Fumes) in Auntie Ethel’s Tea House, so that should easily get you past this part of the dungeon.

You will also have to be careful with the exploding Peculiar Flowers. The easiest way to set them off without having to pass a DC 15 Perception check is to throw an item onto them. They will all explode in a chain reaction if they are close enough to each other. There should be at least 2 flowers in each poison cloud.

And that is all you need to know about how to get through the poison cloud traps (Noxious Fumes) in Baldur’s Gate 3. Check out other interesting BG3 guides and articles:
