Many basic mechanics in most RPGs can also be found in Wartales. Lockpicking is one of the best ways to get experience for your thief. It is also relatively simple to do once you understand how it works. You will first need to meet all the proper requirements before you can start lockpicking, so we will also show you all of that. Here is how you can lockpick in Wartales.

How to Make/Craft Lockpicks in Wartales

The first thing you will need is a Tinkerer and Iron Ore. You can find Iron Ore almost everywhere on the map, and you just need to interact with it to loot it.

To get a Tinkerer, you need to enter the camp by pressing the button in the bottom right that looks like a camp. Then, you will have to right-click the workshop and make one of your companions into a Tinkerer.

Inside the workshop menu, you will find the lockpicks, which cost one Iron Ore to make. Make at least 5 to 10 so you have enough chances if you fail.

How to Lockpick in Wartales

Before you can start lockpicking in Wartales, you will need a Thief. You can make any of your companions into one from the start of the playthrough.

Just right-click on one of them from the party menu in the upper left corner of the screen to inspect them and then press the profession button next to their name, as shown in the image above.

Once you have a thief in your party, you can start lockpicking any chest you stumble unto. You will see if a chest can be broken into if it says that you need at least one lockpick to open it.

You will then enter the lockpicking minigame. If you’ve ever played Skyrim, it is the exact same lockpicking minigame. So, here is how you lockpick in Wartales:

Players will have to turn the lockpick around the lock and insert it by left-clicking. If the lockpick starts shaking and making loud metal-on-metal noise, this means that the angle you are trying to use isn’t right.

The further the lockpick goes in, the closer you are to the real spot where you can insert the lockpick. Turn the lockpick and try some angles to see which way it goes in further into the lock.

Once you find the exact angle, the lockpick will go all the way in without shaking and the lock will open.
