Using one of these great nations can turn your playthrough from a boring, run of the mill experience to an extremely fun one. However, you looked everywhere you could in the game and you couldn’t find where you could release a nation from. Well, we are here to provide you with answers. Here is how you can release a nation in Victoria 3 as a vassal or as an independent country.

Release Nation in Victoria 3
There are no repercussions from releasing a nation as a puppet or as an independent country. Many interesting, minor power nations can only be playable this way. By following the steps below, you will also discover where to find all of the releasable nations for your country.

Here are the four steps that you will need to follow to release a nation in Victoria 3:
- Open the Diplomacy menu from the left side of the screen.
- Select the Release Subject option at the top of the menu.
- Choose the nation that you want to release.
- Select if you want to release the nation as an independent or puppet and if it will be your new playable country.
You can also see the final location of these steps in the image above. All the nations you release as a subject in Victoria 3 will always be a puppet if you are a recognized power. This is good because you can always annex a puppet if you want them back in your country,
