There are going to be many people you recruit during your adventure in Mount and Blade II: Bannerlord. Some of these people will be useful and interesting, however, more often than not, you will need to change them. Companions in Bannerlord are very different from the ones in Warband, as they are randomly generated to represent a type of human being. This is why, more often than not, they can be disappointing. Well, luckily, even though you spent some money, you can easily get rid of companions in this game. Here is how to dismiss a companion in Mount and Blade II: Bannerlord to save some money or replace them.

How to Dismiss Companions in Mount and Blade II: Bannerlord

  1. Open the Clan menu (the button with a lion head in the bottom left).
  2. Select the companion you want to dismiss.
  3. Under their name, you will see an option to “Start a conversation with a clan member.” It looks like a little dialogue button, right next to the role of the companion. Press it.
  4. Select the “About your position in the clan…” dialogue option.
  5. Choose the “I no longer have need of your services” option and then choose any reason to get rid of them.

If you don’t see the “I no longer have need of your services” option, it is not a bug, it is just something that you did. You will need to leave any city or settlement that you are in before attempting to dismiss a companion.

Also, make sure you get their belongings before they leave since you won’t have another chance to get them back from them. You can also sell all of their stuff either way.

And that is all you need to know about how to dismiss a companion in Mount and Blade II: Bannerlord. Check out other interesting guides and articles:

How is it not a bug but “something I did”? I leave the settlement and talk to him again yet there’s still no other option than “never mind”
