How to Increase Battle Size in Bannerlord

There are two ways you can increase the battle size in Bannerlord: either through the game’s menu or through its files.

Mount and Blade II Bannerlord Increase Battle Size

If you want to use the in-game options to increase the battle size, you will unfortunately be limited to 1000 troops on the battlefield. If this is the option you are looking for, here is how to do it:

  1. Open up the Options menu and go to the Performance tab.
  2. Scroll down all the way to the Gameplay option.
  3. Choose the amount of troops you want from the Battle Size option (Min 200, Max 1000).

How to Increase Battle Size Over 1k

However, if you want to pass that 1000 limit and have Total War-type battles, you can increase the battle size in Bannerlord by following these steps:

  1. Go to Documents \ Mount and Blade II Bannerlord \ Configs
  2. Open the BannerlordConfig.txt and look for Battle Size.
  3. Change the number to whatever one suits your needs.

Here, number will range from 0 to 6. 0 means 200 troops, 6 means 1k. We are not 100% sure what the numbers after 6 mean, but it will be higher than 1k. So, if you want the battle size around 2k troops, change the number to 12.

Once you’ve changed the battle size limit from the txt file, you will be able to fight with however many troops you wish. Though your GPU might break…

Unfortunately, you should know that changing the battle size number in the txt file does not always work. This is not a foolproof method and you will most likely have to search up a mod to fix this, if you really want more than 1k troops.

And that is all you need to know about how to increase the battle size in Mount and Blade II: Bannerlord. Check out other interesting guides and articles:

Battlesize says BattleSize=6. The current cap via settings for me is set up to 1000 troops. I want to up it to 1500. What to do with BattleSize=6 to get 1500 troops?

Doesnt seem to be working, as soon as the game loads it sets it down to BattleSize=2.

Same here. I changed it from BattleSize6 to BattleSize9. After the game launches Steam magically changes the file magically reverts back to BattleSize6.
