Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed Clash Reportedly Hits 0 Concurrent Players on Steam

Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed Clash Reportedly Hits 0 Concurrent Players on Steam

Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed Clash has had one of the most troubling releases for an anime game in a long time. From the very first trailer fans of the popular manga have been upset about the game’s low budget and lack of quality.

3D Arena Fighters have already been a contested genre in anime fandoms. The reason for this is that whenever a Shonen Jump manga becomes successful enough to earn a game, Bandai Namco and some smaller studios create a low-budget arena fighter.

Very few of these Arena Fighters get praised by fans, with the exceptions of Dragon Ball Budokai and Naruto Ninja Storm these games have little to no lasting legacy and tend to have their player counts die down quickly.

Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed Clash was no exception to this rule, as each trailer was heavily critiqued by gamers and Jujutsu Kaisen fans alike. With most pointing out glaring flaws like each character constantly flying around mid-air or just standing still after any attack.

To make things worse, Cursed Clash would be released during one of the busiest weeks in gaming history. Not only did it need to compete against major anime-adjacent games like Persona 3, the Apollo Justice Trilogy, and Granblue Fantasy: Relink, But it would also have its sales siphoned by Tekken 8 and Under Night IN-Birth 2. Two fighting games that people were genuinely excited for. Tekken 8 in particular would be setting the new standard for 3D Fighting games.

This fierce competition and the general distaste for the game resulted in a poor launch for Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed Clash. While exact sales numbers are not currently known, the game peaked at only 5,243 players on Steam. Small numbers for one of the few anime to break into the mainstream.

The game’s reputation would only fall from here. On Valentine’s Day, after a quite embarrassing tweet from the game’s social media account, gamers would run to Steamcharts and witness the game’s player count hit the impossibly low number of 0 concurrent players.

On social media, several viral posts began to laugh at this number as it seemed the game had died even quicker than expected. However, this player count may not even be true. As other sites such as Steamdb report that at the time it was allegedly at 0 players, the game actually had 247 players.

As such, it is more than likely that Steamcharts was merely experiencing a glitch. While it still reports that Cursed Clash had only 0 players during that hour, that number has now risen to 136 players.

136 players is still an incredibly small amount of players for a game that released only two weeks ago, this already small player account likely attributed to people believing the game actually hit 0 players.

My man, you just made full article about Steam Weekly Maintenance. Congratulations

Dead PotatoD

Why are you coping. The game is dead.

In an era where games like Genshin and Star Rail exist, which are made by indie developers, the recent Granblu release. You can’t just release a low-effort game that looks and plays like a PS3 game. People have higher standards nowadays, and there are tons of games being released that compete with your time. No one’s going to waste their time playing such a low-effort game, hence why it’s dead.

I looked at the steam charts today, and they’re even worse. 24 hour peak of 30 people playing, you would think they try to improve the game by releasing compelling content and push some marketing to persuade people into playing it, but no, the shareholders have moved on to their next game.
