Fans of Rockstar Games and their open-world franchises have been waiting with bated breath for the classic 2010 wild west game Red Dead Redemption to finally release on PC. However, it would appear that they won’t have to wait much longer.
The lack of a PC port for the first Red Dead Redemption game has naturally upset many PC gamers, as the title was released on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 in the fall of 2023 with no sign of a PC port in sight. This is a common occurrence with Rockstar Games and their publisher Take-Two Interactive, as all of their titles have launched as console exclusives, only receiving PC ports later.
Fans waiting for a PC port of Red Dead Redemption finally go some hope recently, as on the morning of May 13, 2024, Twitter user Tez2 was taking a look around the site files for Rockstar’s PC game launcher when they discovered new text strings that read as follows:
“Journey across the sprawling expanses of the American West and Mexico in Red Dead Redemption, and its zombie-horror companion, Undead Nightmare. Now available on PC!”

These text strings are the same type that Rockstar has used in the past to advertise titles such as Grand Theft Auto V on the Rockstar Launcher. Meaning that an official announcement will likely occur sooner than later.
When the PC port is announced, many are expecting it to be similar to the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch ports which launched in the fall of last year. While these ports were initially marred with framerate issues, those appear to have been fixed with patches as recently as the March of 2024. Leading to what will hopefully be a stable port on PC.
Red Dead Redemption is currently available to purchase for PlayStation 3, Playstation 4, Xbox 360, and Nintendo Switch consoles
