On the morning of May 14, 2024, video game developer Behavior Interactive held an 8th anniversary livestream for their multiplayer survival horror game Dead by Daylight. In this stream, the company highlighted what players could expect from the game throughout 2024 and beyond.

Dead by Daylight Year 9 Roadmap

According to their roadmap, players can expect new licensed characters to be added to the game in June, July, August, and March of the upcoming year. Meanwhile December and April will focus on Dead by Daylight’s original characters and lore.

Aside from upcoming killers and survivors, players can also expect a new game mode to be added to the game in July of 2024: a temporary 2v8 mode where two killers must face off against 8 poor survivors! Alongside this, four in-game events are planned to occur in the game over this year.

While the 2v8 mode will not be a permanent addition to the game, it was assured on stream that there will not be 2v8 specific achievements or progression.

The developers also made mention of a type of cross-platform progression in their live stream, however, few details about this have been revealed at this time.

Dead By Daylight – Dungeons and Dragons Collaboration

During the 8th anniversary live stream, a trailer was uploaded to showcase what the focus of Dead by Daylight’s next season would be: Dungeons & Dragons! D&D is one of the first non-horror IPs to collaborate with Dead by Daylight, making its addition a major shift in what to expect from the game! The trailer can be viewed at the link below.

The killer to be added in this Dungeon & Dragons chapter is known as Vecna. Alongside Vecna the game will be adding a new survivor, a D&D bard known as Aestri Yazar. Their powers and perks were highlighted during the livestream and can be read in full in the below images.

Throughout the anniversary livestream, the developers went over the difficulties of incorporating the magic system of Dungeon & Dragons into a game like Dead by Daylight, the full live stream can be viewed on the official Dead by Daylight YouTube channel.

Dead by Daylight Castlevania Collaboration

To close off the stream, Behavior Interactive gave a surprise announcement about how Dead by Daylight would be collaborating with one of the first monster game franchises this summer: Castlevania. No further details have been given about this collaboration but the internet has been lit aflame with excitement! More details will be revealed on August 6th
