Colony Ship: A Post-Earth Role Playing Game brings the player to live the harsh life of a colonist on a ship on its way to a habitable planet. Surrounded by cultists, anarchists, and authoritative troops, you will have to find some other companions around the world to help you survive. Though you can play the game solo, it is advisable to get as many companions as possible early in the game, to make most of the fights survivable encounters. There are quite a few companions you can get throughout the chapters, so you will need some help to find them all. In this guide, we will present you with a list of all the companions in Colony Ship: A Post-Earth Role Playing Game and show you how and where to recruit them.
All Companions in Colony Ship: A Post-Earth Role Playing Game
There are 8 companions you can recruit in Colony Ship:
- Evans (The Pit)
- Faythe (The Pit)
- Jed (The Pit)
- Mathias (Faction)
- Garret (Faction)
- Cobra (Faction)
- Knurl (Mutant)
- Harbinger (Mutant)
How to Recruit All 3 Companions in The Pit
There are three available companions in The Pit, the starting location of Colony Ship, which you can get to follow you throughout the whole story:
Evans
Evans is the easiest companion to recruit in Colony Ship since the main quest will send you his way. If you go into Abe’s General Store, in the northwestern part of Main Street, you can find Evans, protecting Abe.
He will ask for your help in interacting with the thugs and you just have to either persuade them to leave or defeat them. Once it’s done, you will get Evans to join you as a companion.
Faythe
If you didn’t want to invest anything in Lockpicking, Faythe is the perfect companion for you in Colony Ship. You can find her relatively fast by completing a few assignments for Earl.
Head to Camptown, to the northeast, and talk to the man with a big “JOBS!!!” sign. This man is called Earl and he will have a job for you with a fellow named Chance. You will have to talk to some dangerous men and can either fight them or promise you will get what they want.
After this encounter you can head back to Earl to report the situation and ask him for another job. This time he will give you a job offered by Faythe herself. You will have to help her get revenge on Foley, an individual that ended the life of her brother and father.
You can go two ways here, you can either directly attack and end them or distract them while Faythe takes care of the job. Once this mission is done, you can ask Faythe to join you as a companion.
Jed
Jed is the closest you will get to a tank companion in Colony Ship, as his Strength and Constitution are very good. You can easily recruit Jed in a similar manner to the other two by completing a quest to help him.
To start the quest, head over to the Whiskey Jack, where you have to go for the main mission anyway, and talk to the bartender. You will get a quest to collect a lot of money from Jed.
By looking around a bit on the Colony Ship, you will find the location of Jed in a container northeast of the Courthouse, close to the entrance to the Outskirts. You will see a large container with an E7 on it. Look a bit to the right and you will see another container with “Forest Mews” written on it.
Enter this container and talk to Jed. Of course, don’t end his life and agree to help him with Black Will. Once the quest is done you can recruit Jed in your party.
If you have Charisma 8 you should now have all three companions from The Pit in your party.
How to Recruit the Faction Companions
Later in the game, you will get your hands on The Machine and will have to decide which faction you will give it to. Depending on who you choose you can get:
- Mathias – Church
- Cobra – Protectors
- Garret – Brotherhood
Since this is a part of the main story, there is no way to miss out on any of them. The only thing is that you can’t get all of them in the same playthrough, since you have to give The Machine to only one faction.
All three of them are really powerful combat specialists that start at level 7 when they join you, a level many players won’t even get until the end of the game.
How to Recruit the Mutant Companions
There are two potential Mutant companions that players can get in Colony Ship: A Post-Earth Role Playing Game. Same as the faction companions, they are mutually exclusive.
To get either one of them you will need to complete either the first five battles at the Courthouse in chapter 1 or three of them in chapter 3. Doing this will give you the Bounty Hunter quest, which will result in you recruiting either Knurl or Harbinger.
They have similar stats, with both of them having huge Dexterity, and will likely help you a lot. Since you can start the quest from chapter 1, you can get them far earlier than the faction companions.
You should choose to get the one that fits your playstyle, as they are both very useful gameplay-wise.

I think this should briefly cover loyalty as well which can be important to decide which companions to pick (ex: Evans’s Loyalty drops if you side with Regulators, yet Faythe’s goes up)
Though they have various opinions on the factions, they don’t care enough to influence their loyalty too much. I managed to end the game with max loyalty for the three starters just because I did their various side quests the “right” way. My faction choice didn’t matter for their loyalty that much in the end.
