Act 1 is all about fighting goblins or tieflings in the forest close to the crash landing of the nautiloid ship. After you manage to finally finish the long plot where you fight goblins left and right, you will manage to free the powerful druid Halsin from their clutches. He will be very happy and, after celebrating with your camp the victory you will learn that he wants to join you on the adventure to the Moonrise Towers. Most players will assume at this point in the game that they just got a cool druid in their party that can speak to animals anytime. However, this is not true. For some reason, Halsin can’t join your party. In this guide, we will tell you exactly why Halsin won’t join your party at the camp in Baldur’s Gate 3, and how to make him join you as a companion.

Why Halsin Can’t Join Your Party in BG3

After you defeat the goblins, have the celebration party with the tieflings, and get Halsin to join your camp in BG3, you will probably talk to him to try to recruit him into the party. Once you’ve exhausted all of the dialogue options, you will notice that all you can do is ask him how he is.

Unfortunately, compared to the other companions you recruited until now, Halsin doesn’t have a tadpole in his head, which means he has no reason to help you through your main quest.

Halsin will join your camp but he won’t actually be a recruitable companion in BG3 until you reach Act 2, by going to the Moonrise Towers. Until then, while you are in the Underdark, Grymforge, and the Mountain Pass, Halsin will just stand around in your camp.

You can go talk to him to give him updates on your quest, but there is no way you can use this powerful druid as a companion until you reach the dark shores of the Moonrise Towers.

Halsin won’t join your party in BG3 until you complete a quest in the Last Light Inn where you have to make a sick man wake up. Once you complete that quest, Halsin will finally join you as a companion instead of a camp follower, since he fully trusts you and wants to help you.

And that is all you need to know about why Halsin won’t join your party in Baldur’s Gate 3. Check out other interesting guides and articles:
