Baldur’s Gate 3: How to Get the Adamantine Splint Armour

Baldur's Gate 3: Splint Armour

There are many awesome armor options to choose from in Baldur’s Gate 3, and the Adamantine Splint Armour is considered one of the best. Not only does it look nice, but it also offers advantages like preventing Critical Hits on the wearer. But before you can don this armor, you need to make it. In Baldur’s Gate 3, Adamantine Splint Armor isn’t something you can buy from a vendor. Instead, you get to experience the life of an epic blacksmith and make armor yourself. Let’s find out how!

Creating the Adamantine Splint Armour in BG3

The creators of Baldur’s Gate 3 decided that Adamantine Splint Armor isn’t going to be something you can loot off a difficult enemy. You’ll still get a boss-like fight, but your foe won’t drop this armor. You need to find Mithral Ore as well as the right Mould, all located in the Ancient Forge.

You’ll need to set up the Adamantine Forge to craft your special armor, but before that happens, you’ll have to fight a big enemy. It’s a strong one, so you have to come prepared!

To actually make the Adamantine Splint Armour in Baldur’s Gate 3, you need to put the Mithral Ore in the Crucible and Mould in its respective chamber. Here’s a step-by-step look at how to get the Adamantine Splint Armour in BG3:

  1. Place Adamantine Splint Armour mould in the chamber
  2. Insert the ore into the crucible
  3. Activate the Forge Lever
  4. Activate the Lava Valve
  5. Select the Forge Lever again

Note that if it’s the first time you use the forge, step 4 will trigger that rather challenging fight mentioned earlier.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Adamantine Splint Armour Stats

This armor has some nice effects/special abilities:

  • Intense Adamantine Backlash: A melee attack that lands on the wearer sends the attacker Reeling for 3 turns
  • Attackers can’t land Critical Hits on the wearer
  • Magical Plate: Incoming damage is reduced by 2
  • Armor Class: +18

How to Find Mithral Ore in BG3

Fortunately, the game doesn’t make it too tough to get your hands on the right kind of ore. There are two locations where you can find it: the Abandoned Temple and the Abandoned Forge. To mine the Mithral Ore, you should know that hitting it won’t work. Instead, you’ll have to rely on a Force Damage attack, such as Magic Missile or Eldritch Blast.

As for the actual locations, simply follow these directions:

Location One – Go to the Ancient Forge waypoint and head east. You’ll find the Mithral Ore Vein on the wall close to some bookcases.

Location Two – Go to the ladder leading to the Adamantine Forge and go to the path to the south. You’ll have to jump across the lava to reach the Mithral Ore Vein.

Finding the Adamantine Splint Armour Mould in BG3

This mold is located to the northeast of the Ancient Forge Waypoint. It’s lying beside a skeleton. You can get to it by going up the north-eastern stairs after teleporting to the Ancient Forge Waypoint. The mold should be on your left.

And that is all you need to know about how to get the Adamantine Splint Armour in Baldur’s Gate 3. Check out other interesting BG3 guides and articles:
