Baldur’s Gate 3: Defiled Temple Stone Disc Puzzle Solution

Baldur's Gate 3 Defiled Temple Floor Puzzle Solution

As you explore all the different dungeons in Baldur’s Gate 3, you might stumble into some very confusing puzzles. The main problem with puzzles in RPGs such as Pathfinder and BG3 is that you sometimes don’t get enough hints to actually solve them. If you know what your goal is, you can easily complete a simple puzzle, such as the one hidden in the Defiled Temple under the Shattered Sanctum. Here is exactly what you need to do to solve the Stone Disc floor puzzle in the Defiled Temple in Baldur’s Gate 3.

Defiled Temple Stone Disc Floor Puzzle Solution in BG3

After you get through the “cleansing” process with True Soul Gut in BG3, you will gain access to the hidden Defiled Temple under the Shattered Sanctum. In this location, after going down the hallways, you will find a room with 4 Stone Discs, which looks like a puzzle.

Since all 4 Stone Discs are placed in a square position, each one pointing to one cardinal direction (north, south, east, and west), we will talk about them as the “southern Stone Disc”, “Eastern Stone Disc”, and so on.

The solution for the Stone Disc floor puzzle in the Defiled Temple in BG3 is to move all the black spots on the southern Stone Disc, which is illuminated. So, white spots under the darkness and the black ones under the light.

Here is exactly how to solve the Stone Disc puzzle in the Defiled Temple in BG3, if you haven’t touched the Stone Discs yet:

  1. Interact with the eastern Stone Disc twice to get the black spot into the light. (Eastern Stone Disc x2)
  2. Touch the western Stone Disc once. (Western Stone Disc x1)
  3. Touch the southern Stone Disc twice to make space for the last black spot. (Southern Stone Disc x2)
  4. Interact with the northern Stone Disc twice to get the black spot on the eastern Stone Disc. (Northern Stone Disc x2)
  5. Click on the eastern Stone Disc once to complete the puzzle. (Eastern Stone Disc x1)

Once all the black spots are next to the southern Stone Disc, you will get 35 xp for the party and a passage will open to the north.

How to Get Past the Puzzle Without Solving It

There is also a way to get past the puzzle in the Defiled Temple in BG3 without actually solving the puzzle. If you walk to the north a bit, you will see a Lever that you can picklock. You will have to pass a DC 15 Sleight of Hand check to unlock the Lever.

Once you pass that check, the secret door will open and you won’t have to complete the puzzle anymore. However, you won’t get the 35 experience if you “cheat” your way past the puzzle.

And that is all you need to know about how to solve the Stone Disc puzzle in the Defiled Temple in Baldur’s Gate 3. Check out other interesting BG3 guides and articles:
