Baldur’s Gate 3 offers players many opportunities to make their inner hero happy. There is plenty of saving to be done, and there are many characters who will praise you for getting them out of tight spots. However, it would seem that Larian Studios has a bit of a dark sense of humor because there is one character that most players can’t seem to rescue: Meerna. It’s like they don’t want anyone to prevent her from ending up burned to ash. So, let’s answer the question many have been posting on forums about Baldur’s Gate 3: Can you save Meerna?
Can You Save Meerna in BG3?
Saving Meerna in Baldur’s Gate 3 is currently an impossible task. No matter what approach you take, it looks like Meerna is going to move on to the afterlife.
Whether you take Nere on and fight him as quickly as possible, or decide to let him succumb to the poison, it isn’t likely that you’ll find a way to save Meerna.
Players have turned to Reddit and Steam to ask each other if it’s possible to save Meerna in Baldur’s Gate 3. So far, no one has been able to come up with a strategy that works.
It’s possible to save the Grymforge gnomes, but Meerna just isn’t as lucky. Considering that even if you somehow manage to save her cheesing the system, she instantly collapses and dies. Larian seems to have intended her swift end.
You can take out the Duergar before blasting the hole open so the fight is a bit easier. Then you’ll need to prepare for the confrontation by going into turn-based mode immediately. It’s best to enter this mode before you use the Smokepowder to blow open the cave-in.
You’ll have to attack Nere before he starts talking. If you don’t, you won’t be able to prevent him from throwing that unlucky gnome into the lava.
Sadly, even if you go to all this trouble, you just can’t save Meerna in BG3. She will just vanish and the other characters will act like she died. Though the game often allows players to be extremely creative and save every possible character, this time it seems it isn’t possible.
