Sometimes, you might see events around you that would seem impossible to change, which can actually easily be fixed with some quick thinking. Smythin is a minor character in Baldur’s Gate 3 that appears for around 5 seconds, as he gets pushed by a goblin into a spider den. In this situation, players will likely wonder if there was some way to save him. Well, in this guide, we will show you exactly how to save Smythin from the fall in Baldur’s Gate 3, without having to fight or cause the goblins to attack you.

How to Save Smythin at the Goblin Camp in BG3 Without Fighting
The clearest way to save Smythin is to defeat the two goblins, but this will cause all of the other goblins in the Shattered Sanctum to turn hostile.
The easiest way to save Smythin from the goblins over the spider den in BG3, without fighting, is to throw a Potion of Invisibility on him. The moment you climb into the room where the confrontation starts, you have around 5 seconds to throw the potion.
After that, wait for a few seconds without moving and you will get a cutscene where Smythin will thank you for saving him.
If you don’t have a Potion of Invisibility on you, there is also another method to Smythin. Druids can turn into a bear and scare the goblins by approaching them. Once you make them run far enough from Smythin, you will get the saving cutscene.
The last efficient way to save Smythin in BG3 is to summon a spider familiar and do the same thing we described with the bear. Just move the spider next to them and make them run in the opposite direction from Smythin to get the dialogue scene with him.
What Happens if You Save Smythin – Rewards for Saving Him
You won’t actually get anything if you save Smythin under normal circumstances. If you have a custom character with the Folk Hero background, you will get an Inspiration. Wyll also has the Folk Hero background, so he also gets this Inspiration.
So, if you want to get a free Inspiration in BG3, make sure to go to camp, sub Wyll into the party, and save Smythin.
