Most puzzles in Owlcat Games can get a bit confusing as they don’t have enough hints and you sometimes need to brute force them. In Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader, players will have to face quite a few annoying puzzles where you will just have to play around with the patterns a bit and figure out yourself how to solve them. Luckily, the internet exists and you can always find the answers for anything you need with a bit of help. In this guide, we will show you exactly how to solve the puzzle in the Unidentified Ruins on the Dead World in Latotian’s Passage in Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader.
Latotian’s Passage Unidentified Ruins Puzzle Solution in Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader
After you land at the Latotian’s Passage Unidentified Ruins in Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader, you will walk a bit, pass either a Demolition check (using a Melta Charge) or an Athletics check to reach a puzzle with 5 statues with purple crystals floating over them.
If you interact with the large pillar to the east and pass a relatively simple Lore (Warp) check (+20), a purple light will come from the skies and touch the statue. Your job now is to guide the light from one pillar to the other, making a pattern that will open a secret chest.
The solution to the puzzle can actually be found on the ground. There is already a pattern on the ground that won’t work if you try it out and a hidden one you can see by passing an Awareness check and then interacting with a spot on the ground, next to the main pillar.
First Unidentified Ruins Puzzle Solution – Ancient Force Sword
Let’s give all the pillars a name, based on their geolocation. The large, main pillar will be the Eastern Pillar, and the others will be the Southern, South-Western, North-Western, and Northern Pillars.

Here is how to solve the Unidentified Ruins puzzle in Rogue Trader (the numbers in the image above represent the steps below):
- Touch the Eastern Pillar twice for the light to touch the South-Western Pillar.
- Touch the South-Western Pillar twice for the light to touch the Northern Pillar.
- Touch the Northern Pillar twice for the light to touch the Southern Pillar.
- Touch the Southern Pillar twice for the light to touch the North-Western Pillar.
- Touch the North-Western Pillar twice for the light to touch the Eastern Pillar.
Once you do this, the light will reach the creepy looking statue and it will allow you to loot a secret chest that has an Ancient Force Sword inside, a great weapon for Psykers.
Second Unidentified Ruins Puzzle Solution – Chains of Domination, Foulsight Veil
After picking up the sword, head over to the north-eastern part of the map to pick up a Cracked Xenochest. If you, for some reason, placed it in Cargo, get it out. Interact with the “jaws” where you picked up the sword earlier to place the Xenochest inside it.

This will reset the puzzle, allowing you to get even more loot. Here is how to solve the Unidentified Ruins puzzle in Rogue Trader the second time, since there are no hints (the numbers in the image above represent the steps below):
- Touch the Eastern Pillar three times for the light to touch the North-Western Pillar.
- Touch the North-Western Pillar once for the light to touch the Northern Pillar.
- Touch the Northern Pillar twice for the light to touch the Southern Pillar.
- Touch the Southern Pillar once for the light to touch the South-Western Pillar.
- Touch the South-Western Pillar three times for the light to touch the Eastern Pillar.
Doing this will open the second chest with the Chains of Domination and the Foulsight Veil inside, two great items for Cassia and Yrliet.
Once you pick up these two items you will face two Pink Horrors and a Screamer of Tzeentch, so prepare for a decent battle.
