At 9:00 on February 21, 2024, it was announced in a Nintendo Direct that the Switch exclusive title Shin Megami Tensei V would be receiving an enhanced version for all platforms known as Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance.
Vengeance will be an updated version of the game with new features and extra story content similar to Atlus’ previous expansion titles Persona 4 Golden and Persona 5 Royal. A trailer premiered in the Nintendo Direct to introduce the game.
What many people didn’t see after the Direct though was that Sega and Atlus immediately began a live stream where they went over details about the upcoming release and what players can expect from the game.
The story of Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance will not split from the original’s after the climax like in Persona 5: Royal, rather players will be given the choice to play the original story or new story at the very start of the game.
Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance will feature a new character known as Yoko Hiromine, she will guide the player through the new conflict against the demon Lilith, who will feature as the antagonist of Vengeance.

According to the news stream, the estimated playtime for this new route of Shin Megami Tensei V will be 80 hours, making it equal in length to the original release of the game.
This expanded version of SMT: V will naturally feature many new demons and quests around the realm of Da’at for the player to interact and negotiate with. This includes a new version of Jack Frost who has taken a form similar to Nahobino.

Players who somehow grow bored of Shin Megami Tensei V’s battle system will also be receiving a new way to play as the game will be adding an auto-battle feature, so you can sit back and watch the game handle random encounters for you.
In addition to all of this, players can expect to see these new quality of life features in Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance
- The ability to speed up cutscenes to 2x speed, max speed, or skip them entirely
- The option to turn on/off certain miracle abilities in the pause menu
- Additional items which will allow you to reset and reallocate your protagonists stats
- The option to rotate your minimap
- The ability to save your game anywhere
- Players can now use multiple stat growth items at a time
All previously released DLC will be included with Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, however, there will be two new demons added as DLC. These new DLCs will be Dagda from Shin Megami Tensei 4 and a new demon known as Konohana Sakuya.

Gamers who already own the base version of Shin Megami Tensei V will not be given the option to transfer their saves, but will be given the ability to transfer three of the demons from their compendium to Vengeance.
Shin Megami V: Vengeance will be released in PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series S|X, and on PC via Steam on June 21, 2024.
