On May 29 2026, Sega and Avex Pictures officially revealed Shin Sakura Wars The Stage -Seiden Tsurugi-, the newest stage show based on Sega’s popular Sakura Wars game franchise. This stage show will see Shin Sakura Wars heroine Sakura Amamiya (Whose role will be reprised by Yuna Sekine, who previously played her in Shin Sakura Wars The Stage) travel to Kyoto to meet a new cast of characters. This stage show is currently scheduled to premiere from September 18 2026 to September 27 2026.

Plot Summary
Shin Sakura Wars the Stage: -Seiden Tsurugi- will take place shortly after the events of Shin Sakura Wars: The Animation. Below is a description of the plot from the stage show’s website.
1941, early summer.
To stop “The menace threatening all of Japan” Commander Sumire Kanzaki sends Amamiya Sakura to Kyoto. Meanwhile, in Kyoto, the cases of famous swords being stolen is rising; that phenomenon is called “The Sword Hunt”. At that time Sakura encounters one single girl going after the stolen swords. The girl wielding two shining, blue swords is a member of one of the secret sacred families’ Todo Clan, her name is “Todo Asagi”.
The two’s encounter raises the curtains to a new show!

Asagi Toudou
Actress: Yuuri Ota
A member of one of the three secret sacred families, and the Toudou Clan’s only daughter. She fights the evil lurking in the shadows of Kyoto with her sword techniques.
Shirahime Okita
Actress: Haruki Iwata
The elegant daughter of Kyoto’s ancient and famous Okita family. She has a strong-willed character and is always seen with her bodyguard.
Hagane Hijikata
Actress: Chihaya Yoshitake
The doctor of the Hijikata Clinic, beloved by all inhabitants of Arashiyama. Her manners and attitude are both quite bad, but she’s an unmatched doctor.
Ziying He
Actress: Momoyo Koyama
A member of the Shanghai Revue of unknown age. Though she looks really young, she carries herself like an elderly sage.
Julie Sawada
Actress:
A cheerful News Reporter. She takes unbelievable photos and brings chaos to her surroundings.
Sakura Amamiya
Actress: Yuna Sekine
Member of the Imperial Combat Revue’s Flower Division. She was sent to investigate the incidents in Arashiyama.
