Pals have a vast amount of utility during your time in Palworld. A strong mix of Pals with different strengths and typings will be critical to surviving and being effective in combat, and having Pals with different skills will make gathering/harvesting resources and crafting important items much more efficient. One more additional utility most if not all Pals have is their Partner Skill, which can only be activated while the Pal is in your party and is currently out. Partner skills are mostly unique to each Pal with some Partner skills being passive boosts to tasks such as harvesting and crafting, and some skills being special moves used in combat. These moves can range from high-damage signature moves to activation of Pal Gear skills such as guns, rocket launchers, and missile barrages. Your Partner skill will also be how you use your Pals as mounts granted you’ve crafted their designated saddle through the Pal Gear Workbench. With Partner skills being integral to the Palworld gameplay experience, this guide will show you how to activate your Partner skills in Palworld.

How to Activate Partner Skills in Palworld

Activating your Partner skill in Palworld is very straightforward. First, you will need to throw out the Pal you’d like to activate the skill for. After throwing them out, hold down the “F” key if you are on PC, or the “X” button if you are on Xbox. Doing so should activate your Pal’s Partner skill.

For Pals used as mounts such as Direhowl or Nitebird, if you’ve crafted their saddle through the Pal Gear Workbench, you will not need to equip it and you will instantly be able to use your Pal as a mount. To dismount your Pal, just hold down the Partner skill button again and you will dismount.

For Pals that have unique moves, you can hold down the Partner skill button and the Pal will instantly perform their move. Afterwards, their skill will have a cooldown which can be tracked through the Partner skill icon as it will slowly fill up like a gauge. Once the icon is full you can activate the Partner skill again.

For Pals with special moves only granted by crafting Pal Gear such as Lifmunk’s submachine gun or Tanzee’s assault rifle, these skills will have either automatic activation or will allow you to freely aim your Pals’ firearms.
