While it is entirely possible and valid to beat Echoes of Aincrad with only the original characters that form the game’s main party, there is no doubt a countless amount of fans who want to partner alongside their favorite characters from the Sword Art Online light novels. Most of these characters, such as Silica, are unlocked via optional side quests. If you are curious about how far through the game you will have to go and which quests you’ll need to beat in order to get the best girl, here is a guide on how to unlock Silica as a partner in Echoes of Aincrad.

How to Unlock Silica as a Partner in Echoes of Aincrad

Before you can play through the side quests to unlock Silica, you’re going to need to progress through most of the second floor of Aincrad. After completing the main story quest “Violet Footsteps” and meeting Silica in that quest’s cutscenes, she will appear in the first floor town of Horunka with a quest marker over her head.

Speak to Silica and you will begin the side quest Annihilation. This quest is one of very few that mixes up the game’s usual quest structure as instead of walking to a location and fighting a boss at the end, you’ll just need to make it to the area. Silica will comment on how odd it is that the boss hasn’t appeared, but you’ll still clear the quest.

Like the other optional partner characters, Silica will give you two more side quests before she can be fully recruited. One of these quests won’t have a boss like the first, but the second will have a fight against a giant boar. This will give you a good opportunity to see what Silica brings to the table as a Partner.

Silica’s main strength is her Gracious Gift skill, which will have her place crystals which will recover the player’s HP and SP around a boss arena. This is a fantastic skill that will both keep the player alive and allow them to spam their sword skills at a boss. If Silica being the best girl wasn’t enough of a reason to recruit her, this more than sells the deal.
