One of the most popular problems PS5 console players have while playing some of their favorite games is the Brightness settings. Very often you will start up your console and for some reason, the screen will have very dim lights or very intense ones. And for every game, the settings might have to be changed. Unfortunately, not all PS5 games have Gamma and Brightness settings, so you will have to do this from the PlayStation’s main menu settings. Here is how you can adjust and fix the Brightness on your PS5 and start playing games the way they are supposed to be played.
How to Adjust Brightness on the PS5
Most of the brightness problems that appear on the PS5 are due to the HDR settings. To adjust the Brightness settings on the PS5, you will need to adjust the HDR settings.
Adjust HDR and Brightness in the Video Output Section
- Start up your PS5 and open the Settings (cog in the upper right corner of the main menu).
- Go down through the options and select the “Screen and Video” settings.
- Enter “Video Output” and go down to the “Adjust HDR” option, in the “Color” category. Open the “Adjust HDR” option.
In the Adjust HDR settings menu, players will be able to change the Brightness on their PS5. If, however, the brightness still feels off, here are also some other things you can try out:
- In the same Video Output menu, where you found the Adjust HDR settings, press the “HDR” option, which should be set as “Always On,” and change it to “Off.” This should fix your problems if your monitor is not widescreen.
- In the same Video Output menu, go up from the HDR settings and select the “4k Video Transfer Rate” option. Choose -1 or -2. This should also help fix the problem.
