Today a new hardware sales leak for the month of July 2024 has surfaced. According to the leak, the PlayStation 5 has sold 1.5 million units in Europe year-to-date, the Nintendo Switch has sold 780,000 units, and the Xbox has sold only 210,000 units.

These numbers are down from the previous month, with the PlayStation 5 seeing a 23% decline, the Nintendo Switch a 32% decline, and the Xbox a 38% decline.

The Xbox’s numbers are particularly dire, with only 10,000 units sold in July. This is a significant drop from the previous month, and it is clear that the Xbox is struggling to compete with the PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch in the European market.

It is worth noting that these numbers do not include sales in the United Kingdom, which is a major market for all three consoles. However, even if the UK numbers were included, it is unlikely that they would be enough to significantly change the overall picture.

The PlayStation 5 remains the dominant console in Europe, with nearly twice as many units sold as the Nintendo Switch and nearly seven times as many units sold as the Xbox. It is clear that Sony has a strong hold on the European market, and it will be interesting to see if Microsoft can make a comeback in the coming months.

The Nintendo Switch is also doing well, despite seeing a decline in sales from the previous month. The Switch is a popular console with a wide range of games to choose from, and it is likely to continue to sell well in the European market.

The Xbox, on the other hand, is struggling. The console has been criticized for its lack of exclusive games, and it is clear that Microsoft needs to do something to make the Xbox more appealing to European consumers.

Overall, the European console market is dominated by the PlayStation 5, with the Nintendo Switch and Xbox trailing behind. It will be interesting to see how the market evolves in the coming months and years.

EU Hardware YTD (July 2024)

  • PS5: 1.50M (-23%)
  • NSW: 0.78M (-32%)
  • XBS: 0.21M (-38%)

EU Hardware YTD (June 2024)

  • PS5: 1.3M (-16%)
  • NSW: 0.7M (-32%)
  • XBS: 0.2M (-37%)

Please note that these numbers are based on a leak, and the actual sales figures may be slightly different.

Additionally, it is important to remember that console sales are not the only metric that is important in the gaming industry. Other factors, such as game sales and engagement, are also important to consider.

However, console sales are still a significant indicator of the overall health of the gaming industry, and the numbers for the Xbox are cause for concern for Microsoft.
