There are numerous attacks that Hornet can use on the players. One quick tip here will be that players should always try to move away from the Hornet. Because all of her attacks are projectile based. The more away you are from the Hornet the better you will be able to judge her attacks.

Now, whenever the Hornet attacks you she will come close to you. So dodge the attack, hit her a few times, and then instantly move away from her. Also, make sure that you keep an appropriate balance between your vengeful spirit attack and focus ability for healing.

The hornet will take rest three times during the complete battle. Every time she rests, avail yourself of this perfect opportunity to either attack or heal yourself for the next round.

Here are the attacks that Hornet uses and how you can counter them:

  • Needle Attack: In this attack, Hornet will throw her needle toward you. The needle will cover almost 75%of the area so be sure that you’re on the other side of it. If not, then you can jump in order to dodge the needle, however, you will have to jump again to dodge when Hornet recalls her needle back.
  • Needle Swing: For this one, Hornet will swing her needle all around her in 360 motion. The only way to avoid this attack is to move away quickly. This attack will not cover much of an area and is only used by Hornet when you are too close to her.
  • Dash Attack: During this attack, Hornet will dash with her needle toward you. As soon as you see Hornet crouching down make sure that you’re ready to jump and move away from her quickly. It’s a quick attack but once you are able to judge it then it won’t be much of a problem.
  • Mid-Air Dash Attack: In this attack, Hornet will jump in the air. Now using a similar stance as in Dash Attack, she will dash diagonally toward you. The location where she will dash is quite predictable after looking at her stance. So be sure to move away from the location. As soon as she attacks she will pause for like a second, this is where you can counter-attack and deliver some more damage.

After successfully defeating the Hornet in Hollow Knight, you will be rewarded with the dash ability.
