The Australian Classification Board might have spoiled Team Cherry’s reveal plans for Hollow Knight: Silksong.
The Australian equivalent to the ESRB and PEGI uploaded a rating for Hollow Knight: Silksong on April 2. Unfortunately, doubt remains regarding its legitimacy.
As pointed out by u/OkaKoroMeteor on Reddit, several duplicate listings of Hollow Knight and the sequel exist on the website. Also, the listing for Hollow Knight: Silksong doesn’t mention Team Cherry as the developer or publisher. Additionally, the listing for Hollow Knight: Voidheart Edition (the console-specific version of the first game) doesn’t list Team Cherry as the developer, only as the publisher.
Interestingly, the same listing for Hollow Knight: Voidheart Edition is dated September 24, 2020. The same edition came out for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One two years earlier on September 25, 2018.
Upon further inspection, none of the Hollow Knight listings on the site are accurate or have complete information.
Moving on, the same keen-eyed fan also made more heartbreaking observations, suggesting that this may be an elaborate troll job.
However, it’s worth noting that this is the latest in a string of positive updates regarding Hollow Knight: Silksong over the past two weeks.

On April 2, Xbox President Sarah Bond retweeted a post by the official ID@Xbox account that confirmed that players can finally wishlist the upcoming sequel. Soon after this went viral, Microsoft launched a store page for the Xbox version of the game. Finally, the South Korean Game Rating and Administration Committee gave Hollow Knight: Silksong a “12 years and older” rating back in February.
As a bonus, Hollow Knight: Silksong received a manual update on Steam on March 2. Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree received a similar update on Steam roughly a month before its official release date reveal.
When Will We Hear About Hollow Knight: Silksong Next?

Hollow Knight: Silksong initially started development as another DLC for Hollow Knight. But, midway through its development, the game’s developers, Team Cherry, realized that it had become too big to be an expansion. Thus, on February 14, 2019, the independent studio announced Hollow Knight: Silksong.
Hollow Knight: Silksong is set in a new world featuring Hornet, the offspring of the Pale King and Herrah the Beast. She’s also a non-playable character and a boss in the first game.
Unfortunately, official news about Hollow Knight: Silksong remained absent for years. It wasn’t until June 2022 that Team Cherry dropped a new trailer for the game as part of Microsoft’s first Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase. In the same showcase, the studio confirmed that Hollow Knight: Silksong will be available on day one on Xbox Game Pass.
The latest update from Team Cherry about Hollow Knight: Silksong came in May 2023 when it confirmed that it needed more time to make the game.
With the next Xbox & Bethesda Showcase coming in June, we might hear more about it in two months’ time.
In its initial announcement, Hollow Knight: Silksong was slated for a PC, Mac, Linux, and Nintendo Switch release. Because it’s a day-one release on Xbox Game Pass, we can assume that its availability on Xbox and PlayStation platforms when it comes out.
