Dissidia Duellum: Final Fantasy has multiple outfit skins for each character in the game. Every character has six different appearances that can be pulled in the gacha, with many expecting more outfits to be added to the game in the future. What most players might not realize, though, is that the game includes a second visual customization feature that doesn’t involve the gacha at all: Weapon Skins. Each character in the game has a second weapon that they can equip and use during battle, but the game keeps the method of unlocking these a secret. If you are curious about how to unlock your favorite character’s second weapon, then please consult this guide on how to unlock Weapon Skins in Dissidia Duellum: Final Fantasy.
How to Unlock Weapon Skins in Dissidia Duellum: Final Fantasy
When attempting to select your character’s alternate weapon skin before unlocking it, the game will give you a message stating that “Maybe if you play as this character a lot, something will happen”. This message is true, as the way to unlock alternate weapon skins is to play as a character multiple times.
However, when the game says a lot, it truly means it. The journey to unlocking a character’s alternate weapon skin requires playing as them for a total of 300 battles. These battles can be done within Ranked or Casual battles. However, Challenge menu battles will not count toward this total. Whether or not the play wins or loses a battle doesn’t affect their weapon unlocking progress.
Due to the game’s Crystal gacha reward system being designed to encourage only around 12 battles a day, this is a task that will take several weeks to accomplish unless you are willing to battle above that limit without receiving rewards.

Aside from looking different, weapon skins in Dissidia Duellum: Final Fantasy don’t provide any tactical advantage and are simply a way of showing off to other players that you have spent a long time playing as your favorite character. Seeing Cloud Strife with a weapon other than the Buster Sword will strike immediate fear in other players, as that means the player must be a skilled Cloud.
Weapon skins aren’t the only reward the player will receive for playing as a character a lot. If you play 1,000 matches as a specific character (A task designed to take months to complete naturally), you will unlock a special title that shows you main that character.
For example, if you play as Krile 1,000 times you will unlock the title “Krile Main”. While it is very disappointing that the Main titles don’t include extra variety related to the character, they are the ultimate show of bragging rights in the game aside from topping the ranked leaderboards.
