On August 10, 2026, video game publisher NIS America announced that the English release of NIS’ horror-farming game Village in the Shade will launch on October 27, 2026, just a few months after the game’s Japanese release date.
This title, which has quickly become a massive hit in Japan thanks to its unique style and take on the farming-sim genre, will see the players run a farm in the tradition village of Kagatsu, where nothing will go wrong so long as they follow the village rules and traditions, for those who break those rules though…
Welcome to Kagatsu, a Japanese mountain village with plenty of secrets. In this brand-new, hand-painted farming sim, you’ll plant crops, customize your homestead, and befriend a cast of intriguing characters.
Relax by the brook, watch the cherry blossoms with your neighbors, or take a stroll through town. With so many ways to relax, you’re sure to feel right at home.
Just make sure to follow a few simple rules: don’t talk to strangers, don’t leave the village, and, whatever you do, don’t go out at night.

The game is currently scheduled to release in English on October 27, 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2 systems. Pre-orders for the game’s Limited Edition are currently available via NIS America’s website for the title.
