On May 23 2026, Square Enix announced that the second season of their Enix’s 3v3 Gacha-based arena-fighter Dissidia Duellum: Final Fantasy would be closing off with another new character addition: Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII.
In a trailer released on the official Square Enix YouTube channel, it was revealed that Sephiroth would be descending into Dissidia Duellum: Final Fantasy on May 26, 2026. Just two days before the game’s second season would be coming to an end.
Sephiroth will be the seventeenth character added to Dissidia Duellum: Final Fantasy, and the first character representing a game that already has a character in the roster.
Despite fighting with a sword, Sephiroth is classified as a Ranged fighter due to how large his Masamune’s range is. Sephiroth’s exclusive abilities, which must be pulled from the gacha, will grant him a playstyle centered around quickly reaching opponents or stunning them long enough for him to finish them off.
- Supernova: Attack all foes (Heavy damage), ignoring barriers and stunning them (5s). This cannot be used at the start of the battle.
- Octaslash: Attack nearby foes (High damage).
- Oblivion: Slip around an enemy in front of you and attack (Medium damage)
- Hell’s Gate: Leap forward and launch nearby foes into the air (low damage)
In addition to these skills, Sephiroth will have a passive ability titled “One Winged Angel”, which will give him increased movement speed whenever he’s near a player controlling Cloud Strife.
To prepare players for the coming of Sephiroth, Square Enix is currently holding an in-game campaign where players can freely pull all four abilities of any of the game’s characters, allowing new players to quickly have an entire character’s kit and go straight into ranked combat.
Alongside the announcement of Sephiroth, Square Enix revealed a roadmap for future Dissidia Duellum: Final Fantasy content. This road map revealed that one character would be added to the game each month, with Final Fantasy X, VI, and V being the first games to receive a second character after Final Fantasy VII.

Dissidia Duellum: Final Fantasy is currently available to download for Android and IOS devices.
