On July 24 2026, Square Enix announced that the third season of their Enix’s 3v3 Gacha-based arena-fighter Dissidia Duellum: Final Fantasy would be closing off with another new character addition: Celes Chere from Final Fantasy VI.
In a trailer released on the official Square Enix YouTube channel, it was revealed that Celes would be descending into Dissidia Duellum: Final Fantasy on July 30, 2026. Unlike previous characters who could only be obtained through the game’s gacha, Celes will be granted to players for free if they progress far enough through a season’s battle rewards.
Celes will be added to the game as a support character with the ability to constantly heal surrounding allies whenever the player presses their finger on the screen for an extended period of time. Like all other characters, she will also have several attacks exclusive to her that can be obtained in the game’s gacha.
- Spinning Edge: Draw in nearby foes and attack (High Damage)
- Runic: Grant all allies Bravery based on damage taken from rivals (20s)
In addition to these skills, Celes will have a passive ability titled “The Invincible General”, which will grant her Bravery whenever she takes damage from enemy attacks.
Celes won’t be the only thing added to the gacha in this upcoming Dissidia Season; Onion Knight, Rinoa, and Gaia will all be receiving swimsuit costumes which can be obtained in the game’s gacha. These swimsuits are cosmetic only and will have no effect on how characters play.
Summer Costumes won’t be the only ones added this season either, as Terra from Final Fantasy VI will also receive a new costume, the “Blossom Princess” outfit.
Dissidia Duellum: Final Fantasy is currently available to download for Android and IOS devices. The game’s summer season, “Threads of Hope” is scheduled to begin on July 28, 2026.
