On September 22, 2023, video game developer Larian Studios released the third major patch for their critically acclaimed RPG Baldur’s Gate 3. This patch was advertised as adding Mac compatibility to the game in addition to other features.

This is the third release in a series of major patches that change large portions of the game. The game’s first major patch focused on fixing thousands of glitches while the second added various features such as Withers’ Wardrobe of Wayward Friends.

In between each of these major patches several smaller hotfix patches have been released to fix various bugs in the game. These various hotfixes have focused on smaller issues such as improving the romance with Minthara.

While the major selling point of Patch #3 is the added Mac support, that isn’t the only thing Larian Studios is offering to Baldur’s Gate 3 players today. As this patch will also add the long-requested feature of changing your appearance at any time via a magical mirror.

This magical mirror can be found within the player’s camp. The player’s appearance, voice, pronouns, and nether regions can be changed at any time. However, your race and body type cannot be changed at any time. In addition, Origin characters, hirelings, and full Illithids cannot use the mirror at all.

In addition to this major addition, the player can expect to find a huge amount of small quality-of-life changes within the game upon installing Patch #3. These changes range from Poltergeist enemies being revealed upon attacking them to adding a new dialogue option when speaking to the Dream Visitor.

The full patch notes for Patch #3 can be read on Larian Studio’s Steam page. Baldur’s Gate 3 is currently available to purchase on PC via Steam and GOG, with the PlayStation 5 version expected to be released on September 2, 2023. An Xbox Series S|X port of the game is also expected to be released in 2023, but no release date has been given currently.
