On October 6, 2023, video game developer Larian Studios released yet another hotfix patch for their critically acclaimed RPG Baldur’s Gate 3. Making this the fastest the studio has released two back-to-back.
This is the ninth release in a series of smaller hotfix patches that fix small issues without changing major portions of the game. These patches have focused on fixing bugs and small quality-of-life improvements.
The biggest change in this patch is related to the Magic Mirror. When this feature was implemented, it only allowed the player to change their appearance. With this patch though, the feature will be expanded. Allowing players to change the appearance of all hirelings as well.
That isn’t the only change the patch has made to the Magic Mirror, as it now also allows the player to change the name of their own character when interacting with it.
The other changes made with this patch are all related to fixing various glitches and quality-of-life issues with the game. Such as a bug where using feign death would cause an infinite loop of joining and leaving combat.
Despite Larian Studios having released a previous hotfix for Minthara’s romance, there have still been issues where players have been locked out of her intimate events. This current hotfix aims to fix those remaining bugs.
Various smaller bugs such as characters’ animations bugging out when skipping dialogue, a black screen appearing when using split-screen mode during dialogue, and a bug where the Guardian Statue repeatedly falls into a pit have also been fixed with this hotfix.
Finally, a few bugs concerning the game’s various buff spells have been fixed. Unpreparing spells will now properly remove spells when upcasted and buffs that came from another source will no longer be removed.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is currently available to purchase on PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam and GOG An Xbox Series S|X version of the game is slated to release in 2023, but no release date has been given.
