Larian Studios’ critically acclaimed DnD-inspired role-playing game Baldur’s Gate 3 will be receiving another major patch much sooner than players had anticipated.

While the previously released Patch 1 had been made to prioritize fixing thousands of glitches within the game, Patch 2 will instead be focused on adding content to the game and improving its performance

The biggest new piece of content included in this patch will be an extended and improved epilogue for the character Karlach. Previously, players had found the end of her storyline to be extremely disappointing. As such, Larian Studios will be fleshing her storyline out more with this patch, giving her a “fiery, poignant” optional ending.

The other major change in this patch comes in the form of fixing the game’s performance issues in Act 3. Players can expect the game’s third act to be running better than before by the end of September.

The final major change in this update will be the addition of the Withers’ Wardrobe of Wayward Friends. This feature will allow the player to remove co-op avatars from their party and continue their adventure without them.

Another planned feature for the game is the ability to change the player’s appearance midway through the game, though Larian Studios is still testing this feature so it may not be released in the second patch.

Patch 2 will also come with some minor bug fixes. While it won’t fix nearly as many as the gigantic patch 1, players can expect many issues such as Minthara’s reactivity not triggering to be fixed in the near future.

While no release date has been given for Patch 2, players can expect all of these wonderful changes at some point during September of 2023. The full patch notes can be read on Larian Studios’ steam page.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is currently available to purchase on PC via Steam and GOG, with the PlayStation 5 version expected to be released on September 2nd, 2023. An Xbox Series S|X port of the game is also expected to be released in 2023, but no release date has been given currently.
