Baldur's Gate 3 New Patch Fixes Short Races Kissing Bug

Larian Studios’ extremely popular Role role-playing game, Baldur’s Gate released half a month ago to high praise and critical acclaim. Despite this, the game was filled with many bugs and issues that Larian Studios swore to fix over the next few weeks.

In the weeks since release, the game developer released four separate hotfix patches to address potentially game-breaking bugs and issues (such as your companions not waking up from long naps). While releasing these small hotfixes the game developers also worked on their much larger patch #1.

The massive 2GB download that is patch #1 proclaims to fix over 1,000 bugs with the game’s mechanics, fix balancing and flow issues with the gameplay, and much, much more!

The major bug fixes highlighted in this patch are the removal of game-breaking bugs such as an issue where exiting dialogue early would result in it no longer being possible to interact with anything in the world. Another highlighted bug fix was how previously many players were unable to romance the character Shadowheart, as the final scene in her quest line would not trigger for some players.

Aside from glitches, the player base can expect many game balancing changes in this patch. Gold bounties throughout the game will be more generous, Players’ HP bonus when in Explorer Mode has been increased from 50% to 100%, Freecast tadpole power is now reset upon taking a long rest, and many more!

Several technical and visual issues outside of the game’s design were also fixed in this patch. The game’s launcher will now remember if the player chose DX11 or Vulcan and a new controller-style option was added which will allow players to select what button icons are shown on screen.

Many issues were also fixed with the game’s DLC bard songs. Not only was a bug where the player would lose access to these songs if they loaded an earlier save fixed but now the songs will also be available for NPCs to use so long as the player had bought them.

This only scratches the surface of what players can expect in this massive patch. The full patch notes can be read on Baldur’s Gate 3’s Steam Page. Although allegedly listing all the bug fixes would far surpass Steam’s characters limit, Larian Studios has also released the patch notes on their own forums.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is currently available to purchase on PC via Steam and GOG, with the PlayStation 5 version expected to be released on September 2nd, 2023. An Xbox Series S|X port of the game is also expected to be released in 2023, but no release date has been given currently.
