There are a lot of interesting items in Baldur’s Gate 3 and Larian Studios do a really good job at confusing players about the relevancy of said items. You will never know if the random note you just picked up is some vital quest item or some useless trinket since the developers have kept the same inventory system they used in Divinity 1 and 2. So, if you go into the Owlbear Cave in BG3 and you find the Owlbear Egg, you will probably wonder what you are actually supposed to do with it. Do you hatch it to get a friendly Owlbear Cub? Or do you just sell it? Here is exactly what you can do with the Owlbear Egg in Baldur’s Gate 3 and how to get it.
How to Get the Owlbear Egg in BG3
Players can get the Owlbear Egg from the Owlbear Cave in BG3. If you head toward the Blighted Village, you will have to pass a bridge to get there from the Emerald Grove. Just north of the Emerald Grove, players can find the entrance to the Owlbear Cave.
Inside this cave, you will find a mother Owlbear and an Owlbear Cub, standing close to an Owlbear Egg. You can either try to stealthily steal the Owlbear Egg or just defeat the mother and steal the egg.

What to Do with the Owlbear Egg in BG3
There are three things you can do with the Owlbear Egg in BG3:
- Eat it
- Sell it
- Give it to Lady Ethel
The Owlbear Egg is worth 40 Camp Supplies, so you can use it to feed the crew for one Long Rest. You can also sell the Owlbear Egg for at least 750 gold. However, most players would like to use such an interesting item for something quest-related.
So, you can trick Lady Ethel in Trielta Crags, in the Mountain Pass, to accept the Owlbear Egg instead of a Githyanki Egg to finish her quest. You will just need to pass a Nature, Deception, or Persuasion check to give it to her.
