CD Projekt Red has officially announced The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past, a new story expansion for the 2015 RPG that will launch in 2027 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The expansion will once again follow Geralt of Rivia, with Fools Theory co-developing the content alongside CDPR.
The announcement was made via the studio’s official social media channels, where CD Projekt Red shared a brief teaser post along with a hashtag confirming the new expansion’s title. The studio stated that additional details will be revealed in late summer, including more information about the story, gameplay additions, and system requirements.
The Witcher 3 originally launched in May 2015 and received two major expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, which together added over 30 hours of new content to the game. The base game has since been updated to include ray tracing, faster loading times, and other improvements for the current-gen versions released in December 2022.
CD Projekt Red has not yet disclosed the price or exact release date for Songs of the Past, though the studio confirmed it will be available as a standalone purchase separate from the Complete Edition. The studio also announced it will be updating the game’s system requirements to accommodate the new content.
This is CD Projekt Red’s first new story expansion for The Witcher 3 since Blood and Wine, which concluded Geralt’s story in 2016. The announcement comes as the studio continues development on The Witcher 4, codenamed Polaris, which remains in production.
More details about Songs of the Past are expected at a future showcase, with the studio promising to share additional information in the coming months.
