On August 25, 2026, Square Enix announced that the next character to be added to their gacha fighting game Dissidia Duellum: Final Fantasy would be Bartz Klauser from Final Fantasy V. Bartz will be added to the game to kick off the game’s fifth season, which will be almost entirely Final Fantasy V themed.

Bartz will be added to the game as a Melee fight with a passive skill called “Job Master”, which will increase his ability damage after using other abilities (Stacking up to three times). Alongside this passive, Bartz will have the following abilities

  • Unique Ability – Goblin Punch: Hold. Charge a great distance, punching repeatedly
  • UR – Dragon Slash-Cross: Leap forward and attack foes in a wide area (High Damage) stunning them (5s)
  • UR – Rapid Twin Thundaga Spellblade: Attack a foe in front of you (Medium Damage) At 2 Job Master stars, deal more damage (Severe) At 3 Stars, leave foes stunned (5s)

Like all characters added to the game so far, Bartz and his skills must be pulled for in the game’s gacha, however, Bartz himself can also be obtained as a natural reward in the game’s season pass.

Celes won’t be the only thing added to the gacha in this upcoming Dissidia Season; As the game’s other Final Fantasy V representative, Krile, will be receiving a new costume called “Mog & Me”. This costume is entirely cosmetic and will have no effect on gameplay.

What will be effecting the gameplay experience though is the game finally adding a new stage and boss character, as players will now have a chance to queue into a stage called “Corrosion: Big Bridge” and fight against Gilgamesh from Final Fantasy V as a boss. Unlike playable characters, Gilgamesh is not dressed in normal clothes to blend into Tokyo.

Dissidia Duellum: Final Fantasy is currently available to download for Android and IOS devices. The game’s summer season, “Bridging the Distance” is scheduled to begin on August 25 2026.
