The long-awaited Warhammer 40,000 Rogue Trader campaign from Owlcat Games received a trailer at this year’s Gamescom event. The focus of said trailer was to show off the various characters the player will be able to recruit in the game.
The first character shown off in the trailer is Abelard Werserian, an ex-Imperian Navy officer who puts his duty above all else. He is described as a wise adviser who can return enemy blows. During the trailer, we can see a glimpse of his Power Swing and his Melta Scorching AoE attack.
Next in the trailer, we see a preview of Idira Tlass. She is an Unsanctioned Psyker and a powerful diviner. During the combat portion of the trailer, we can see her applying status buffs to the party as well as damaging enemies with her Psychic Shriek attack.
The third character shown off in the trailer was the Adeptus Mechanix: Pascal Hanenuman. His combat abilities are focused on casting status debuffs on enemies as well as attacking with his Plasma Overcharge AoE attack.
Fourth in the trailer was Cassia Orsello, the Navis Nobilte. She is a navigator who is able to buff the party with a status known as Reveal the Light. Another ability of hers is a debuff she can cast known as Lindless Stare.
The next character in the trailer is Henrix Van Calox, a Holy Inquisitor. His combat showcase is filled with him charging straight at enemies to hit them with simple strike attacks. After him was sister Argenta of Adepta Sororitias. Her combat showcase shows her fighting with ranged weapons such as a Fire Grenade AoE skill as well as a Flamer Shoot Spray.
Following her, the trailer began to show off the space marine Ulfar. Ulfar is a close combat unit that specializes in dealing massive damage to enemies with simple strikes and gunshots.
Finally, the trailer showcases Yrliet Lanaevyss, the Aeldari Ranger. In contrast to Ulfar, she is a unit that specializes entirely in ranged attacks as the combat portion of the trailer showcases her sniping down units from a far distance.
This diverse range of characters and the sheer amount of options open to gamers will allow nearly any playthrough of Warhammer 40,000 Rogue Trader to feel entirely unique as the game encourages players to use different characters.
After the trailer, the collector’s edition of the game was showcased. It will come with a special collector’s box, a Rogue Trader’s banner, a 20cm figurine of Cassia, and a hardcover art book. Pre-orders are currently available
