One of the core gameplay mechanics of Village in the Shade is the player’s stamina. Any action you take from watering your crops to tilling your fields will take stamina, and if you run out you can’t do anything until you eat some food. At the start of the game, you’ll have next to no stamina and thus will be unable to do anything for a large portion of the day. There is a way to increase how much stamina you have though, if you’re willing to venture out into the village at night. If you’re curious about what this method entails, then please feel free to consult this walkthrough on how to increase your maximum stamina in Village in the Shade
How to Increase Your Stamina in Village in the Shade

To increase your stamina in Village in the Shade you’ll need to make offerings at a fox’s shrine. The offerings will consist of various crops that you can grow and items that you’ll find and pick up throughout the world.
You can make offerings to the Fox’s shrine and increase your stamina bar once per season and only four times total, for four stamina bar increases. An offering may take several days, but your progress will reset if you don’t complete the full offering in a single season.
The Fox’s shrine will only appear at night during yokai hauntings and only AFTER you have found the fox at least once during your current season.
Fox Locations
Before you can even consider offering goods to the Fox’s Shrines, you’ll need to find them. Each season’s respective shrine will not spawn until you find the fox at least once that season and chase him to the shrine. Here is the list of locations that the fox will spawn in town each season during the nightly hauntings.
- Spring: Near Chinana’s Street Vendor Stall
- Summer: Near Kiki Construction
- Autumn: Near the Watermill
- Winter: Near the Hunting Lodge
After following the fox to his shrine each evening, he will always drop one of the items you need to offer him on the ground. Because this will always reduce the amount you need to bring him (and in some cases is necessary if you want to complete all the offerings within the first year), it is highly recommended that you chase the fox EVERY night during the yokai hauntings.
Spring Offerings
There is only one offering category during the spring, likely so the game can ease you into the concept without you needing to worry about growing the correct crops just yet. You’ll be able to find all of the items you need here just by running around town picking up items
| Spring Forageables |
|---|
| Butterbur x5 Honewort x5 Bracken x5 |
Summer Offerings
Summer is where things amp up a bit as now the Fox will also begin to ask you for specific crops in addition to random items. So make sure you grow these three vegetables as soon as you can.
| Summer Forageables | Summer Vegetables |
|---|---|
| Red Bayberry x5 Lily x5 Loquat x5 | Corn x3 Cucumber x3 Ginger x3 |
Autumn Offerings
Autumn is when the Fox begins to get a little crafty. Not only will you not be able to grow one of the crops he needs, Shimeji, until mid-way through the season (As it’s tied to a specific mushroom growing tutorial), but one of the flowers he needs, Dahlia, can’t be grown at all during the game’s first year.
Luckily, you can still get Dahlia from the fox itself by following it through the village. So make all of the other offerings as fast as you can to guarantee that the fox begins dropping that flower specifically.
| Autumn Forageables | Autumn Vegetables | Autumn Flowers |
|---|---|---|
| Akebi x5 Gingko Nut x5 Prickly Ash x5 | Shimeji x3 Taro x3 Sweet Potato x3 | Cosmos x3 Chrysanthemum x3 Dahlia x3 |
Winter Offerings
The Fox’s final offerings amp up the difficulty one final time as now in addition to your crops he’ll also ask for some fish. If you are having any trouble finding these three fish please consider consulting our Fishing Guide.

| Goji Berries x5 Winter Raspberry x5 | Napa Cabbage x3 Daikon x3 Spinach x3 | Daffodil x3 Pansy x3 Rosemary x3 | Crucian Carp x1 Carp x1 Salmon x1 |
After giving the fox his final offerings, you’ll suddenly get a knew scene with Konno to provide further hints at his true nature which is also foreshadowed when increasing your maximum HP. During this scene he will gift you two decoration items which you can place outside of your house before returning to his home for the evening.
