Fishing in Village in the Shade is normally a fun and optional way of earning some extra money in your downtime between tending to your crops and dealing with the ghastly horrors that go bump in the night. However, early in the story the player will be forced to give errand coupons to every member of the village and need to perform a specific task for them. While most of these are simple enough to do, Yoh’s request might throw players for a loop as she’ll need a Yamane Trout, a fish you very likely haven’t gotten yet. If you’re still looking for this fish after several days of fishing, then please feel free to consult this guide on how to catch a Yamame Trout in Village in the Shade.

How to Catch a Yamame Trout in Village in the Shade

While the beginning of Yoh’s request will show you and her trying to catch a Yamame Trout at a fishing spot near the village (As well as give you a tutorial for fishing bait), this is actually a misdirect. The fishing spot in the village itself will primarily give you different kinds of carp, which we do not need right now.

So where do we go to catch a Yamame Trout? Well to do that we’ll first need to complete another villager’s request. When you give Kisuke an errand coupon, he’ll give you a new pickaxe and ask you to break a large rock in the forest near the Hunting Lodge. This rock leads to a path with a new fishing spot refereed to on the map as the “Mountain Foot Fishing Spot”

This is where you’ll need to go if you want to catch some Yamame Trout. As the tutorial at the start of the quest detailed, you can spread fishing bait here to make catching them easier. However, that is not completely necessary as Yamame Trout are catchable even without bait.

During the spring, there are two fish here that require four button presses to reel in: Catfish and Yamame Trout. So don’t feel too bad if you mess up a six button press fish, as that wasn’t your target. Once you have reeled in a Yamame Trout, bring it to Yoh and you’ll be treated to a series of cutscenes to finish off her request.
