Village Fish

Fishing is one the average gamer’s favorite hobbies, as if you have played any large game in the past twenty years then the chances are higher than not that you’ve spent a good amount of time relaxing by the pond. Village in the Shade is no exception to this as one of the best ways to make money while waiting for your crops to grow is to go by the pond and catch some trout. If you’re looking to fill out the entire field guide though, you’ll need to dig a bit deeper than that and really experiment with when and where you’re fishing. If you’re having any trouble finding those last few guppies, then please feel free to consult this guide on where to catch all fish in Village in the Shade.

Where to Catch All Fish in Village in the Shade

There is a total of 35 normal fish that the player can catch in Village in the Shade. These fish are scattered throughout the village’s fishing spots and most of them can only be caught during certain seasons of the year. There are six fishing spots in the village, each with their own unique varity of fish that you can catch

  • Crossroads
  • Village Creek
  • Waterfall
  • Quarry
  • Mountain Foot
  • Mountain Pond

Of these six fishing spots, only four of them are available from the start of the game, as you will be initially blocked from fishing in either of the two Mountain fishing spots at the start of the game. To gain access to the Mountain Foot Fishing Spot, progress the plot until you reach Kisuke’s Request as part of solving Rule 2 of the village. He will gift you an iron axe which can break the rock preventing you from reaching the fishing spot.

As for the Mountain Pond fishing spot, you’ll need to save up a lot of money to reach it. After fishing Shirogi’s Request as part of the Rule 2 chapter of the game, you’ll be able to buy Permits at the Hunting Lodge. These Permits will unlock further areas of the mountain for you to visit, but you need to buy them in order. The second to last permit, the Deer Hunting Permit, will let you reach the highest peak of the mountain. Here you will find the Mountain Pond Fishing Spot.

There are also a few extra quirks to fishing in this game that you should keep in mind. Fish have varying spawns rates that are invisible to the player, but throwing bait into your current fishing spot will increase their rate of appearance. The time of day also matters, as while you will never be prevented from catching a fish in the daytime, you will have a better chance of catching certain fish at certain times.

Each fishing spot also has a very rare fish drop called White fish. These fish are EXTREMELY rare with their appearance rate only being effected by special White Fish Bait that the player won’t have access to until the post-game (Though they can be caught without it). These will likely be the last fish you find as you can fish in a single spot for days without catching one.

Cursed Fish

In addition to the 35 normal fish in Village in the Shade, the game also has 6 Cursed Fish which can only be caught at night. In fact, they’re the only fish you’ll be able to catch at night at all. There is one Cursed Fish per fishing spot and while they aren’t as rare as White Fish, you’ll likely be waiting a while before you’ll catch them.
