Take-Two Interactive and 2K Games are reportedly preparing to showcase the next entry in the Mafia series.
According to @Kurakasis, Take-Two is sitting on an a Mafia-related announcement. It’s possible that the game’s next reveal could take place in the next 3-4 weeks. If the leak is true, the timeline of the next Mafia announcement would line up with Sony’s next event in May.
Hanger 13 has been working on a new Mafia entry since at least 2022. The 2K-owned development team led the development on Mafia 3 and Mafia: Definitive Edition.
Though this leaker doesn’t have an extensive history of breaking video game industry news ahead of everyone else, they did correctly leak the names of Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle earlier this year before their official confirmation.
Furthermore, Take-Two and its subsidiaries have a history of working closely with Sony and its video game showcases. Case in point, 2K Games’ Judas got a new trailer at the February 2024 State of Play. It’s also believed that Sony will announce and subsequently release the PS5 Pro in time for the holidays to take advantage of the increased demand for more powerful consoles ahead of GTA 6’s release next year.
When is the Next PlayStation Showcase?

Sony has held a State of Play or PlayStation Showcase every year in May since 2019. The biggest difference between these events is that PlayStation Showcases are reserved for bigger announcements, but they aren’t held every year.
Interim PlayStation CEO Hiroki Totoki confirmed earlier this year that it won’t rely on its usual slate of first-party exclusives for Fiscal Year 2024-25. Instead, Sony will rely on its third-party partners to drive sales to the platform. However, outside of Stellar Blade, the next PlayStation 5 exclusive scheduled for April 26, there’s little information about what else is coming to PS5 later this year.
Thus, a much-larger PlayStation Showcase filled with third-party announcements is expected in May ahead of the typical announcement-filled June. This will help generate hype for upcoming third-party PS5 titles, which may include Mafia 4.
