Marvel Reveals New Overwatch-Like Game: Marvel Rivals with Trailer and Roster Reveal

On the morning of March 27, 2024, video game publisher Netease and comic book publisher Marvel announced that they would be releasing a new 6v6 competitive shooter called Marvel Rivals. The game wears its inspiration on its sleeve as many have already taken to calling it Marvel’s Overwatch Clone

In a trailer released on YouTube, we get a demonstration of how each character will have unique traits to help in battle, such as Doctor Strange players being able to create portals to teleport their team across the battlefield. Some characters will have the ability to transform mid-match, such as Bruce Banner who can become the Hulk when his meter has been filled.

The trailer also highlights how some characters such as Groot and Rocket Racoon will be able to team up for duo attacks that can slice through both other players and the game’s dynamic destructible environments.

Despite initial rumors that the game would be a mobile title, it was officially confirmed today that the game would be a PC title releasing for Steam and the Epic Games Store.

In a leak that appeared before the trailer was released, gamers were also able to catch a glimpse at the game’s character select screen. Which according to leakers, will be updated throughout the game’s life cycle.

There is no currently announced release date for Marvel Rivals, however, a closed Alpha Test will begin in May which players can sign up for via the Marvel Rivals website at a later date. The game is currently slated to be released on PC via Steam and the Epic Games store.
