Master Detective Archives: Rain Code PC Port Won’t Be Playable in English Until Almost 3 Months After Launch

Master Detective Archives: Rain Code Won't Be Playable in English Until Weeks After Launch

On the morning of May 7, 2024, fans of the Danganronpa franchise were met with the pleasant news that the franchise’s spiritual successor: Master Detective Archives: Rain Code would be releasing on Steam and PS5 this July! Unfortunately, it would appear this news comes with some caveats as English speaking fans will have to wait much longer to play the game.

According to the title’s Steam page and a follow up community post from Spike Chunsoft, the game will only be available to play in Japanese, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese languages when it releases on July 18, 2024. Support for the English, French, Italian, German, and Spanish versions of the game will not be added until a patch releasing on October 1, 2024.

This has naturally caused confusion within the gaming community and Danganronpa fandom, as Master Detective Archives: Rain Code has been available in English on the Nintendo Switch console since June 30, 2023. Nearly a full year before the release of this enhanced edition.

While some fans are willing to wait, others have grown angry and impatient over this delay. As Master Detective Archives: Rain Code’s Switch version has been known to have many resolution and frame rate issues. With the game dropping down to as low as 10 FPS during tense scenes.

This enhanced PC and PS5 port was seen as a second chance for the game to shine, advertising itself with the claim of 4K graphics and an improved frame rate, but it would seem that moment in the spotlight will have to wait. Hopefully that new gallery mode that has also been advertised is worth this month long delay.

Master Detective Archives Rain Code is currently available to purchase on the Nintendo Switch. Pre-orders for the Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X versions of the game are not yet available.
