On the morning of February 16 2026, gamers around the world woke up to one of the most shocking video game trailers of all time. As CyberConnect2 released a trailer for .Hack//Zero, the first new .Hack// game in over a decade and a title meant to celebrate the company’s 30th anniversary.
This new title, confirmed to be an Action-RPG, appears to star the series’ first protagonist Kite as it involves many elements from the series’ first four games. However it does not appear to be a remake of those games as many elements are different, including an entirely new ominous and evil looking A.I. character.

The tagline of the game, “The world is at Dusk, it matches us so well.” Also seems to confirm that this will in some way be related to the original four .Hack// titles instead of being a different era of time featuring similar character designs like .Hack//Legend of the Twilight.
It is currently unknown what platforms .Hack//Zero will be released for, however it is confirmed that CyberConnect2 will be self-publishing the game with permission from Bandai Namco, the current owners of the .Hack// IP. The following statement was published on the game’s website.
Up until now, the “.hack” series has been developed by CyberConnect2 Inc. and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc.
However, with permission from Bandai Namco Entertainment, the new title, “.hack//ZERO,” is an in-house publishing title that will be handled entirely by CyberConnect2, from planning and development to release. The music is by Taro Hakase, a world-renowned violinist and composer. With the violin melodies being played, this project has begun under a new production structure.
“.hack//ZERO,” which is 100% CyberConnect2-infused, is a completely new RPG that inherits the worldview of “the duality of the intertwining of game (virtual) and reality (real)” while evolving to suit the modern era. We
are delivering a title that can be enjoyed by fans of the series as well as first-time players to the world.
Please look forward to the new “.hack.”
In addition to this, Famitsu released an interview with CyberConnect2 about how the studio has been attempting to release a new .Hack// with Bandai for nearly a decade.
There are currently no confirmed platforms for .Hack//Zero, however 4Gamer has confirmed that the title is not a mobile game. For now we must stay tuned for more info in the coming months.
